Tips to get rid of makeup stains and mishaps

The Makeup Examiner will readily admit to being a neat freak, but there are plenty of instances when I simply do not have the time to stop and mess with, well uh makeup messes. When I’m 15 minutes out from hitting the door, I can’t go through the entire process of removing makeup stains. However, there are a few tricks that I’ve picked up over the years that help me address the mess quickly and finish the process later.

Foundation: This seems to be one of the most difficult products to remove from clothing, where it inevitably ends up. If you find that you’ve gotten your foundation on your clothing or bath towel, grab the shaving cream. Apply shaving cream to the affected area and wash the item as soon as you can.

Mascara and Eyeliner: When we’re in a hurry, mascara and eyeliner can end up everywhere except on our face. To remove these stains, it’s as easy a using makeup remover. Apply makeup remover to the affected area of clothing as a pre-wash treatment. Makeup remover also works miracles for removing mascara and eyeliner from the bathroom mirror and counter.

Lipstick: Yes, The Makeup Examiner saved the best for last. If you’re like me, you have a favorite coffee cup right? I could never figure out why my lipstick needs to be re-applied midday, but it remains on my coffee cup after the cup has gone through the dishwasher! Another mystery makeup mess was lipstick on clothing … are you ready for the quick fixes courtesy of my amazing grandmother? Baking soda will remove lipstick from coffee cups and glassware. Who would have thought? And for lipstick stains on clothing, pre-treat the affected area with hairspray.
