SensatioNail Gel Nail Kit Review

Happy Friday my lovelies! The weekend is here and holiday functions have kicked into high gear. The Makeup Examiner was recently sent a SensatioNail Starter Kit by Nailene, which is a DIY at home gel nail system.

The Makeup Examiner absolutely loves to get gel nails, but I’m hyper and really hate the time that it takes to get my nails done at the salon, not to mention the overwhelming fumes that leave me feeling dizzier then usual. So, I was interested to find out if I could get salon quality nails at home.

The SensatioNail Starter Kit ($50) includes everything you need to do a complete gel manicure (actually 10 manicures), a Pro3060 LED lamp, primer, cleanser, clear base/top coat, gel nail polish, lint free wipes, buffer file, and orange stick. The Makeup Examiner was also sent the holiday set Red Glitter and Royal Ruby gel polishes. Additional polishes ($10).

The process is super simple:
  • Clean nails of all nail polish and debris with acetone, wipe off with cleanser and lint-free wipe
  • Apply primer around edges of nail
  • Apply one thin coat of clear base/top coat and cure for 30 seconds in the LED lamp
  • Apply one thin coat of color gel and cure for 60 seconds in the LED lamp
  • Apply one thin coat of clear base/top coat and cure for 30 seconds in the LED lamp
  • Wipe off the tacky layer that's left after curing final coat with cleanser and lint-free wipe

Total time for a full gel manicure is 30 to 45 minutes depending upon skill level
SensatioNail is a very simple system, but it does require patience and a little skill to get the correct layer of gel on your nails. Here are some tips to for a good application and proper removal:

  • Applying primer only around the edges of your nails makes for much easier removal
  • Do one nail at a time as the fluid gel can run if you attempt to do all nails at once
  • If you get any gel on your cuticles, make sure to wipe it off with the orange stick right away
  • Make sure to apply thin coats
  • When you want to remove the product, you must soak your nails in acetone and do not attempt to pull the product off of your nails

The Makeup Examiner was thrilled with SensatioNail! Gorgeous, salon quality nails anytime that I want. Plus, there are lots of awesome colors to choose from and plenty of ways to be as creative or demure as you want, including a French Manicure. SensatioNail is available online and at selectretail outlets.
