Pond’s Luminous Clean Product Review

Happy Wednesday lovelies! The Makeup Examiner can’t believe that it’s already mid-week. I’ve been coordinating my schedule so that I call ease my way to IMATS in NYC on April 6 and 7. If any readers are going, drop The Makeup Examiner an email. Okay, moving on … ‘cause you didn’t stop by to read up about my schedule.

Several weeks ago, The Makeup Examiner was watching one of the morning shows and this woman began talking about Pond’s. Did you know that Pond’s has been around for over 150 years? Yeah, I didn’t know that either. I just remember Pond’s cold cream, from back in the day, which my grandmothers used that left their skin looking amazing. As usual, I digress. So this woman was discussing a new skin care line from Pond’s and you know that I had to try it!

Luminous Clean is the recently introduced line from Pond’s, featuring four products that are enriched with Kaolin clay. The Luminous Clean line claims to brighten dull skin via Kaolin clay and this particular ingredient is known for its abilities to draw out impurities from the skin. Quite frankly putting colors aside for a moment, bright, radiant, healthy skin is the hottest beauty trend for Spring 2013.

So the question is, can a budget-friendly skin care line truly deliver? Armed with Pond's Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser ($7.50, 6.0 oz), Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser ($7.50, 5 oz), Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes ($6 for 30 Towelettes), and Luminous Moisture Day Lotion with SPF 15 ($6.70, 2.0 oz) … I set out to find out!

Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser has a silky consistency with this lovely English rose and white tea scent. The cleanser suds up quite nicely with a very small amount and it left my skin feeling cleansed, but absolutely not dry. In the evening I used Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser, which very similar to the cream cleanser, but offers gentle microbeads. The gentleness of the exfoliater was amazing; as I shy away from most “daily” scrubs because The Makeup Examiner does not believe that daily scrubs and exfoliators are healthy for your skin.

Each use of the Luminous cleansers was followed by an application of Luminous Moisture Day Lotion with SPF 15. Luminous Moisture has that same lovely scent, is fast absorbing and non-greasy. The Makeup Examiner followed this routine for a week and after just a few days of use I could see a difference. My skin was soft, supple and brighter!

The Makeup Examiner believes that everyone needs a good skin care regimen, but recognizes that there are some lazy girls in the audience. Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes are perfect for those of you who haven’t yet converted to a complete skin care routine and for women on the go. The towelettes are great for makeup removal, light exfoliation and cleansing with no rinsing required!

Overall, Pond’s new Luminous Clean is a wonderful, budget-friendly skin care line with products that produce the results that they are supposed to. The Luminous Clean product line is available online at Walgreens and retail locations across the United States.
