Did you make a resolution on New
Year’s Eve? Was it to drop the pounds that you put on over the holidays? Yes …
so did we! The gym is packed with everyone getting back on track for the New
Year, which means bathrooms are over populated. It’s the time of year when
mirror space becomes the hottest commodity at the gym! Are you ready for a few
post-workout tips to refresh hair is minutes? Awesome, ‘cause we have a few
from owner of Cutler/Redken Salons and celebrity stylist, Rodney Cutler!
Braid On: “My wife
and I met at a sports club, so remember you never know whom you're going to
meet out in the world (or at the gym)!” says Rodney. An easy braid is the
perfect style for your workout; it will keep you hair out of your face. Taking
your hair out of the braid will leave you with a beachy, textured finish -- a
great look for your next destination!
Dry Shampoo is Your Best Friend: Prevent you hair from
becoming “wet” with sweat by keeping a dry shampoo handy. A light spritz pre-workout
can helps to minimize the moisture that is created during a work out. My
favorite go-to product is Redken Pillow Proof Two Day Extender & Oil Absorbing Dry Shampoo. Using this before your work out will reduce sweat, while
using it after helps to control flyways and static.
Pony Up: If you have a hard-core gym session planned, be
sure to pack a boar bristle brush. This will help create the best pony. Don't
worry about a little sweat getting in there - the natural sebum and oils from
your will scalp will help nourish your ends and add instant shine. Use a light
hairspray to hold it in place.
Shower & Go: The wet chignon is a perfect go-to style
when you're strapped for time (or all the other women are hogging the one gym
blow-dryer!). Don't brush your hair after the shower. Separate into two
sections (top and bottom), then divide the bottom section in the center. Clip
the top section away. Take one of the bottom sections and twist it. As it's
twisted, wrap it around itself in order to get a small twisted bun. Repeat with
the other section and wrap it around the first twisted bun. Secure the hair
with bobby pins. Finish by doing the same with the top section and position
this twisted bun above the bottom two. Secure with a few more bobby pins and voila!
This should take no more than 5 minutes, post-shower!
