Gillette Venus Launches Global Women’s Empowerment Campaign



Venus launched the “Use Your And” campaign on Thursday, Jan. 8 in support of women and girls to stand-up against the lost opportunities generated by one-dimensional labels and inspire them to recognize and express their full potential. All women have “ANDs”. Gillette Venus wants to help inspire a resolution: In a world of labels, #UseYourAnd to unleash all the extraordinary qualities that live within you!

Those “ANDs” are our multiple talents, but one-dimensional labels often limit us. A new Global Labels Survey by Gillette Venus reveals that most women around the world (70%) have felt labeled starting as young as 10 years old and nearly half say those labels have had a negative effect on their lives (43%) vs. a positive one (26%).

Results of the survey found that it can be difficult for women to be viewed as both smart AND pretty or strong AND sensitive. These “ANDs” or dimensions of a woman are what make her extraordinary. We at TME are acutely aware of just how limiting labels can be. Perhaps it is cliché, however we know it to be factual.

We have experienced the one-dimensional labeling … you can’t be pretty AND intelligent … you can’t be a businesswoman AND feminine … you can’t be a beauty blogger AND believe in inner beauty. We beg to differ with any one-dimensional label placed upon us. Pretty or Smart … Strong or Feminine … Women simply aren’t “ORs”.

Gillette Venus believes that all women have the right to achieve their full potential by embracing their “ANDs” and not be limited by any "ORs.”  AND TME stands with them.

So. What is Venus doing to change the “ORs” to “ANDs”?:
  • Venus has partnered with Claudia Chan, Founder of S.H.E. Summit Global Conference & Women’s Empowerment Expert to educate women in identifying their stereotypical labels and help support them to use their ANDs.   • As part of the campaign, Venus has released the new “AND Stand” video to spark a global conversation. The video features real women telling their personal stories to inspire women to not be limited by stereotypical labels.
