The unofficial start of Summer 2015 will occur shortly with the kickoff of Memorial Day weekend when many of us flock to the beach or chill out lakeside. Of course, for most of us, summer isn’t just non-stop fun in the sun. Yes, most people don’t get an entire season to lounge around and not everyone gets the luxury of 10 hours spent in a climate-controlled office. Can you tell that some of us here at TME don’t always get to spend the day at the office? Or, that the office is kept at an eco-freak temperature? Honestly, we’re all a little eco-freaky at TME but levity is the substance of life … right?
Although we haven’t looked at the Farmer’s Almanac, based upon this past week’s “pea soup” humidity, Team TME is preparing for “Humidgeddon” and a summer of potentially bad hair days and makeup melt that can lead to general misery! So ahead of a myriad of beauty disasters, and general discomfort, Team TME set out to gather up the beauty must haves for the upcoming season. At the top of any Summer Beauty Essentials are sunscreen and products that contain sunscreen! We’ll share our favorite products, but we wanted to emphasis this point! For a quick reference on SPF, visit The Skin Cancer Foundation.
Life’s A Beach! – Ahhh … opening weekend at the beach or lake. For some it’s an opportunity to catch up with old friends (and make new ones), for others it’s a season of good times with your besties … but everyone wants to look good. As a side note: Looking good has nothing to with fitting into a size 2 bikini. We’re telling you; no matter your size dress for your body style and have fun! You can learn more about dressing for body style at “Find The Perfect Swimsuit”. Moving on … Day or night the beach or lake isn’t a place to spackle on the makeup. Keep your look clean and simple, beginning with your skin.
For a day spent by the water, don’t you dare forget your sunscreen and lip balm! Our current favorites; Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport Clear Spray Sunscreen SPF 30 ($8.99) because it’s super light, fast absorbing and water-resistant for up to 80 minutes and L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Tinted Lip Balm SPF 25 ($16 – available in four shear hues).
Whether or not you opt to wear makeup you need a good skin care regimen. Our current favorites; Hey Honey Come Clean! Facial Scrub With Propolis & Minerals ($23), Good Morning: Honey Silk Facial Serum ($41) and Take It Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask ($29), all of which are super gentle for summer skin. Keeping your skin hydrated during the summer can be a challenge - Our current favorites; Colorado Aromatics Aromatherapy Distillate Set ($27.50 – 5 Hydrating Sprays) and Juice Beauty SPF 30 Oil-Free Moisturizer ($29).

Wouldn’t it be amazing if the summer breezes didn’t blow up our hair? Sun at the beach, chlorine poolside, humidity … oh vey! Before you resign yourself to donning that Michael Stars Faded Shade Floppy Hat that you bought for Coachella, Team TME has a few other options for controlling unruly summertime hair.
Beachy waves are a timeless summer look. They’re just as appropriate for the office as for the beach and it’s a pretty look that’s suitable for almost anyone. What’s that? You’re hair is bone straight and ain’t no way you’re getting wave in it. Really? Well beach waves are attainable -- it begins with product and the correct styling tool. Our current favorites; TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray ($10) and Sarah Potempa’s BEACHWAVER S1 Ceramic Rotating Curling Iron ($129), which is going to be your go-to styler for the season as it not only creates those beautiful beach waves, but also defined curls and glam waves for a night out!
