Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino Get The Look

To add to the drama of Dolce& Gabbana’s Couture show, Redken Global Creative Director Guido created a variety of sleek chignons and knots to anchor the designer’s stunning headpieces.

“The hair for Dolce & Gabbana was dependent on the headpiece made for each girl. I prepped the hair with Redken’s guts 10, and then created a center part before styling various types of chignons, loose Sicilian knots, braided knots and loose buns,” - Guido

Get The Look:

Step One: Spray Redken pillow proof blow dry express primer all over damp hair and comb through

Step Two: Apply a quarter-size amount of Redken guts 10 volumizing spray-foam mousse to damp hair, working into the hair from roots to ends

Step Three: Blow dry hair smooth using a flat brush

Step Four: Apply a nickel-size amount of Redken braid aid 08 braid defining lotion from mid-lengths to ends of hair

Step Five: Twist the length of the hair into a knot or chignon and secure with small hairpins

Step Six: Finish with a thorough mist of Redken control addict 28 high control hairspray for extra hold

Step Seven: Place desired headpiece, hat or accessory on head and secure with small hairpins if necessary

“The inspiration for Valentino was Romanesque, so for the hair, we used the jewelry that was made for the collection as a crown. First, I prepped the hair with Redken’s satinwear 02 and then created a natural center part and blow-dried the hair using a round brush. Next, I put a very natural movement through the hair using a large barrel curling iron. The crown was then placed on the head and secured by twisting side sections of the hair around the sides and back of the jewelry. Last, the back length of the hair was braided into a low loose braid using Redken’s braid aid 08 for extra grip,” -Guido
