MAC Backstage Beauty Report AW17 Marchesa, Michael Kors and Thom Browne

SHOW: MARCHESA

INSPIRATION: “Imperial China with a suggestion of a modern Geisha.” Gucci Westman

FACE: The face was finished to provide an ethereal feeling to skin using MINERALIZE CHARGED WATER FACE AND BODY LOTION to prepare and applying M·A·C STUDIO FINISH SPF 35 CONCEALER only where needed to perfect. CREAM COLOUR BASE in LUNA applied in a small amount over the upper cheekbones to highlight. LIPSTICK in MEDIA applied with a focus on the front of the cheek, pushed into the skin for a natural flush.

EYES: LIPSTICK in MEDIA was mixed with MIXING MEDIUM MATTE and lightly pushed into the skin as a subtle wash stained around the entire eye. The lashes were curled with M·A·C BOLD & BAD LASH in BOLD, BAD, BLACK (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2017) and only swept through the upper lash line to accentuate and lift. The brows were groomed with BROW SET in CLEAR, with gaps imperceptibly filled as needed with EYE BROWS in FLING or LINGERING. CREAM COLOUR BASE in LUNA lightly applied through the inner eye to highlight.

LIPS: LIP PENCIL in SPICE used to naturally define the lips. CREAM COLOUR BASE in LUNA touched lightly over the Cupid’s bow of lips to highlight. LIPSTICK in MEDIA softly applied and patted over with LIPGLASS CLEAR, creating a balmy effect on lips to finish.

INSPIRATION: “Clean and minimal, but with strength.”DickPage

FACE: MINERALIZE TIMECHECK LOTION used to moisturize and provide a smooth, matte finish to skin. M·A·C STUDIO WATERWEIGHT SPF 30 FOUNDATION softly applied only where needed to even and tone the skin using the 132 DUO FIBRE FOUNDATION BRUSH. M·A·C CONCEAL AND CORRECT PALETTE used as needed for a minimal, flawless look to skin using either the 231 SMALL SHADER or 286 DUO FIBRE TAPERED BLENDING BRUSH to apply. PREP + PRIME TRANSPARENT FINISHING POWDER swept through the centre of the face to lightly polish and set. M·A·C STUDIO QUIKTRIK STICK in TIGHT AND TAWNY gently blended under the cheekbone, to enhance the natural shape and contour, using the 132 DUO FIBRE FOUNDATION BRUSH to softly apply.

EYES: The brows were the focus of the look: Brows were brushed up and enhanced with a bit of coloured BROW SET to start. Eye Shadows in ash-colored tones were then used with the 228 MINI SHADER BRUSH to gently strengthen the shape the brow. EYE PENCIL in COFFEE applied through both the upper and lower lash line softly smudged over with MIXING MEDIUM SHINE to diffuse and catch the light. The lashes were well curled to open and naturally lift the eye.

LIPS: LIP CONDITIONER (TUBE) applied to moisturize and condition the lips. LIPSTICK in BRAVE gently pressed onto the lips with fingertips for a barely there finish.

INSPIRATION: “By the herringbone fabric used in the clothing and hair. It’s all about creating a new texture and evolution of makeup as texture.” Aaron de Mey

FACE: M·A·C STUDIO SCULPT SPF 15 Foundation was mixed with ACRYLIC PAINT in PURE WHITE to create a pale, vampire-like skin with a ghostly effect, along with a lightly powdered T-zone to finish.

EYES: Concealer was purposely not applied around the eye to let the natural depth and contour shine through. Grey piping was used in three different colors to create a strengthened, geometric-shaped brow.

LIPS: A lip shape appliqué of herringbone fabric was cut and placed over the lip.
