Team TME is yet convinced that men understand the
importance (and actual enjoyment) of “luxury” grooming, let alone the basics of
skin care. That’s not to stay that men folk are stupid, we believe that it’s a
simple issue of not necessarily knowing what to do. We find it quite endearing
when one of our “manly-men” stop by our office, poke around in the well-stocked
TME closet and “covertly” ask what a particular men’s grooming product is for.
There seems to be some sort of silly shame in asking (kind
of like for driving directions), so Team TME has put together a few easy to
understand tips … just for the guys! Summer heat can leave your skin super dry,
so if you don’t currently have a skincare regimen now is as good a time as any
to begin one. A skincare regimen is seriously simple and you’re going to look
and feel better once you begin one. Last April, our editor had the opportunity
to interview Hollywood’s leading stuntman, Bobby Holland Hanton, who offers the
simple skin care tips. And this comes from a guy who has an insane schedule!
TME has also interviewed Dr. Jeffrey Benabio, on several
occasions, who advises that you resist the temptation to take long showers.
Those showers may feel fantastic while you’re in there, but they’re actually
hydration stealers. Limit your shower to no more than 15 minutes and keep the
temperature warm. After your shower, you need to get moisture back into your
skin so, we give you permission to steal your partner’s … until you go buy your
own!
Shaving is another issue for men. You guys just tend to be
hairier. Dr. Jeff advises that guys prep their skin with a pre-shave gel.
Because you’re dragging a blade across the skin of your face, you want to do
everything you can to prepare and soften your stubble. Also, after-shave care
is super important. Follow up your shave with a soothing balm that rehydrates
skin.
You only get one face, so you gotta take care of your
skin. Take care to use a moisturizer that contains SPF 30, use sunscreen when
you’re playing outside, and don’t forget that pretty pout! Use a lip balm that
contains SPF 30 and a crazy, but effective, hack is to dab lip balm on your
eyelids when you’re playing sports.
