Skincare For Your Legs Winter Edition

Yesterday, we posted our interview with Dr. Jeffrey Benabio regarding men's skin and shaving care for winter -- today it's for the ladies! Let's start with why we experience skin issues. Our skin changes for multiple reasons. Stress, hormones, age, and yes, the weather all contribute to changes in tone and texture. As for our legs, being protected by clothing during the cooler months actually works as a moisture thief. Generally fabric is against the skin on our legs, so not only is the fabric robbing moisture from our skin it’s also irritating it by constantly rubbing against the skin. While we aren’t exactly able to bare our legs throughout the cooler months, there are various ways to keep your legs looking summer sexy throughout autumn and winter.

Exfoliate. TME readers will know that we emphasize not over-exfoliating (Side Note: Oxfoliate is not a thing) the skin on your face, but you may be neglecting the rest of your body -- specifically your legs. You need to remove dead skin cells, which are most likely more prevalent during the cooler months. We recommend that you exfoliate your legs every other time that you bath or shower. Dry “brush” with a pair of inexpensive spa gloves and follow up with a fab body scrub. Our current fave is Golden Door Hinoki PacificSalt Body Scrub ($58).

Hair Removal. More women than you think opt not to go for permanent hair removal. Yep. Shaving is still at the forefront of hair removal and while we never really understood the whole idea of not shaving our legs regularly, we have found out over the years that a lot of us don’t shave our legs during the winter and this actually contributes to lackluster legs. When you shave, it’s super important to use a good shave cream and razor. Our current faves are Dr. Bronner's Organic Shaving Soap ($8.99) and Gillette Venus Swirl ($8.99).

Moisturize. You absolutely need to pay special attention to moisturizing your skin, from head-to-toe, during the cooler months and our legs are no exception. For conditioned, supple and sexy winter legs you need to moisturize them everyday. Finding a moisturizer that really locks it in can be a little challenging, so it’s worth it to do your research! Our current fave is Kiehl's Creme de Corps Body Cream ($75).

We hope that you’ve found this post to be helpful and remember, you can always email us with your questions!
