Courtesy of Burberry

It’s been a big week for Burberry, as the brand announced on Dec. 17 the new faces for its Spring/Summer 2014 campaign, which occurred on the heels of Monday’s opening of The Burberry Beauty Box in London’s Covent Garden. The new retail space unites Burberry beauty and fashion, with such innovation, leaving any stateside beautynista envious.

Burberry’s creative concept allows beautynistas and fashionistas to coexist and explore the interconnections of makeup, fragrance, and fashion through personalized physical and digital experiences. Building upon Burberry’s smashing September launch of “Brit Rhythm” for men, the brand aims to emphasize the relationship between its beauty and fashion offerings in a truly innovative avenue.

The brand will launch seasonal beauty looks to complement its runway collections and make them accessible via the introduction of Runway Made to Order, allowing customers to purchase beauty products from runway looks immediately online after the Burberry women’s wear shows.

Further in store features include:

  • The full Burberry Beauty collection of makeup and fragrance, as well as limited edition beauty products
  • Signature Burberry looks, created using a combination of makeup, fragrance, and accessories that connect Burberry fashion collections and Burberry Beauty

  • Tailored gifting services with assistance from Burberry Beauty Stylists
  • A Digital Runway Nail Bar that offers a virtual experience for trying on the latest Burberry runway nail shades

And yes, indeed there is.

Burberry is known to support new talent and this cast of young Brits certainly shows the brand’s support. The S/S 2014 Campaign features actor Jamie Campbell Bower, musician Leo Dobson, and British models Malaika Firth, Matilda Lowther, Neelam Johal, Callum Ball plus newcomer Jean Campbell. The campaign includes a cross platform experience that will feature outdoor and print advertising, Burberry online, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, and Pinterest. Sealed With A Burberry Kiss

In the digital age, communication has become so impersonal. Do you remember when you used to send handwritten notes or the feeling of receiving one? Although the recently launched “Burberry Kisses” campaign still utilizes technology, there is no denying that Burberry has returned romance and whimsy to loves and lovers across the globe.

At the end of June a collaborated effort between Burberry and Google has made kissing someone, anywhere on the planet, seem very real. The idea behind the “Burberry Kisses” campaign is to provide a more personalized way to send your loved ones a little love, no matter where they are, by allowing you to send your very own kiss imprint.

The Campaign allows users two ways to send some love. The first is to visit Burberry Kisses and pucker up in front of your webcam. From that point “kiss-detection” technology captures your beautiful pout. The second option is to use you iPhone and actually kiss the screen. Yes, The Makeup Examiner tested “Burberry Kisses” from her phone and yes; it was odd to kiss my phone … publicly. But that is where any oddness stopped.

After your kiss is captured, you’re given the option to choose au naturel or one of five shades of Burberry lipsticks like, Union Red, Devon Sunset, Bright Plum, Nude Beige, or Tea Rose, to really personalize your pout. Once you’ve chosen the perfect pout imprint and color, write a short message to the recipient and send it via email or Google +. The virtual envelope containing your message, and sealed with your kiss, will then fly across a 3D landscape to the recipient’s destination.

The recipient has the option to display their “Burberry Kiss” across various social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Google +. Each kiss that has been shared receives a spot on a real-time interactive map, but there is an option to keep your kisses private if you so choose. “Burberry Kisses” isn’t limited to lover, as The Makeup Examiner sent plenty to friends and family across the globe. Watch the video about to learn how to send your kisses, and then, send some love to someone far away or right next door.

Burberry announces Cara Delevingne as the face of Burberry’s new perfume

Burberry announced today, March 1, that fashion’s new “It” girl, Cara Delevingne is the face for the Burberry Body Collection campaign and introduced an additional scent to the Body Collection.
We’ve fallen in love with the iconic Burberry Body scent and now, Burberry brings us a new fragrance … Burberry Body Tender. The Body Tender fragrance brings together a fresh surge of lemon, English rose and white jasmine against a warm, feminine soft base. Burberry Body Tender promises to “combine the relaxed, playful attitude of the Burberry girl with the energy of the Burberry’s London hometown.”

The campaign was photographed by Mario Testino and pays homage to Burberry’s hometown roots, as the photo shoot took place along the River Thames. Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s CCO, explained his choice of location “Cara’s natural beauty and vibrant energy lit up alongside London’s magnificent architecture.” Check out exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot and the Burberry Body Tender ad video featuring Cara!

Cara Delevingne’s face dominated Fashion Week and Cara was recently featured in GlossyBox Magazine’s February edition as THE style icon of the UK. Cara began her relationship with Burberry in 2011 and has been the face of Burberry Cosmetics since 2012, with the Burberry Body Tender being Cara’s first perfume campaign. Burberry Body Tender is available exclusively at Burberry and will be available in U.S. department stores May 2013.

Last Minute Valentine’s Day Beauty and Spa Gifts

Hello lovelies! The Makeup Examiner has never really gone for conventionality when it comes to romance. My former fiancé proposed in the kitchen while he was cooking. He was standing at the stove; I was sitting on the counter top and he casually reached into his pocket, pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him. In return, I walked out of the room, retrieved a ring for him and said, “I will if you will.”
My point is that while roses and chocolates are lovely, they are conventional, sort of boring and essentially a Valentine’s Day gift that won’t last longer than a few days. Actually, the chocolates won’t last longer then a minute around me. Now I’m not saying that anyone need go to the length of betrothal to impress, but thinking outside the chocolate box wouldn’t hurt. Let’s check out some cupid approved beauty and spa gifts for inspiration!

Burberry Lip Velvet ($30) and Laura Mercier Nail Lacquer ($18) make the most exquisite and unique duo for lips and nails. Lip Velvet is the newest offering from Burberry and is available in 12 iconic hues. Burberry Lip Velvet is encased in an elegant metallic check lid that is as beautiful as the lip cosmetic. Pair up Lip Velvet with Laura Mercier Limited Edition Nail Lacquer in a sweet shade like Oh La La! Both items are available at Nordstrom.

For a really amazing and luxurious gift, check out Lily Farm Fresh Skin Care Home Spa ($34). Included in this gift set is 100% certified USDA Lily Facial Cleanser, Lily Herbal Astringent, Lily Facial Lotion, Lily Moisturizing Cream, Herbal Moisturizer, Seven Exotic Oils, Oil of Kukui Bath Oil, Botanical Enzyme Exfoliant Mask, incense and a candle. The Home Spa Gift Set offers everything needed for an at home “getaway” and can be picked up at Lily Farm Fresh Skin Care!

If you really want to impress your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day, with a luxurious gift that keeps on giving all year long, check out a beauty box subscription. Companies like Blissmo, GlossyBox, KLUTCHclub, and True Beauty Box offer beauty and lifestyle products that fit the interest of your love interest. He or she will lovingly be reminded of you every month when the beauty box arrives directly at their front door! For complete beauty box subscription information, visit The Makeup Examiner’s article, “Battle of the Beauty Boxes.”

The Makeup Examiner has an … um … small obsession with fragrance. Okay, truth be told, despite being really loyal to my signature scent by Chanel, I love well-crafted perfume and to me, nothing is sexier then a man wearing a good cologne. Two amazing fragrances that are perfect for Valentine’s Day are Burberry Touch ($73) for him and Burberry Body ($115) for her. Burberry Touch (SO SEXY!) is a clean and refreshing cologne that is light. Touch is the perfect balance of a woodsy scent that is not overpowering, just how a man should smell. And then there is Body, which is best described as a sensuous woodsy floral scent. Body is long lasting without being overpowering and The Makeup Examiner has temporarily put away her Chanel in favor of Burberry Body. Both fragrances are available in Valentine’s Day gift sets at Macy’s.
