Kylie Jenner at VMAs: Get The Look

Team TME has a Red Carpet Report from last evening’s VMAS, which took place at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Kylie Jenner looked really amazing with platinum locks and a gorg Tom Ford suit. Her hair was coiffed by Celebrity Hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons and he has dished all about the do!

Inspiration: “Kylie was wearing a high collar, sexy white suit so we wanted the hair to be more sophisticated and grown to not take away from the dress or be too much.”

Get The Look:

“Kylie just dyed her hair platinum blonde only days ago so I had to keep that in mind with everything I did tonight in terms of heat and pre-styling products.”

Step One: To start I used a heat protectant spray on her damp hair then blow dried using the ghd Air Hairdryer ($199) on medium heat with a ghd natural bristle radial brush size 3 ($30). I used the brush with natural bristles versus ceramic or metal so that hair would not get too hot and stay damage-free.

Step Two: I then sprayed hair with a bit of additional heat protectant spray and then began straightening hair with the NEW ghd Platinum+ Styler ($249). Freshly-‐dyed blonde hair can be more fragile so it was very important to me to use the best styler possible to keep the integrity of her hair and keep damage at bay. With the new ghd Platinum+ Styler, one pass gave us extremely sleek, frizz-‐free hair that we needed before putting it up.

Step Three: Next, I used a hairspray and a ghd oval dressing brush ($40) to brush hair in the direction it was going once up. I pulled hair to the back in middle of her head and created a pony. I then pulled out two pieces in the front to create a bit of softness so the pony was not too severe and harsh. I gave the pieces one last sweep with the ghd Platinum+ ($249). To create the imperfect, perfect bun, I twisted her pony very softly and secured it with pins. I added a shine serum on top for the final touch.

Products: ghd Platinum+ Styler ($249 – Launching September 3rd), ghd Air Hairdryer ($199), ghd natural bristle radial brush size 3 ($30), ghd oval dressing brush ($40)

All ghd products, except where noted, are available online at ghd hair and select retail locations.

Get The Look: Katy Perry and Issa Rae at the 2018 Met Gala

The Makeup Examiner Team is thrilled to be sharing the beauty breakdown of COVERGIRLs Issa Rae and Katy Perry. Last night, the ladies’ amazing makeup artists, Joanna Simkin (for Issa) and Michael Anthony (for Katy) gave us the scoop on how they created their flawless red carpet looks for you and your readers. The looks both incorporate the NEW TruBlend Matte Made Foundation, COVERGIRL’s most inclusive shade range to-date -- including 40 different shades across the skin tone spectrum.

“I wanted Katy’s skin to have a matte finish so we could control the highlights on the rest of her face. The new COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made foundation was perfect for this because it would stay on all night but also be comfortable, while giving her that matte finish we were going for. It really gave the perfect smooth canvas to let her eyes and lips stand out and glow. She looked very heavenly and ethereal – perfect for tonight’s theme! “I used the darker shades of the new COVERGIRL Peach Punch palette on the hollow of her eyes and went straight across towards the end of her brow, and the effect was that her eyes looked very wide and open. I also used the champagne color on the center of her eyes to make them really pop.” – Michael Anthony

COVERGIRL products used:
  • COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation - Shade L30 (Golden Ivory) & L40 (Classic Ivory)
  • COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Setting Powder – Shade Classic Ivory
  • COVERGIRL truNaked Scented Eyeshadow Palette in Peach Punch – coming to Walmart this June!

  • COVERGIRL Vitalist Go Glow Luminzing Lotion
  • COVERGIRL Easy Breezy Brow Micro-Fine + Define Pencil – Shade Honey Brown & Soft Brown
  • COVERGIRL Katy Kat Matte Lipstick – Kitty Purry

"We wanted her skin to be ethereal for the theme but matte photos, so I used a big thick fluffy brush from the center of her face and worked my way out. I started from the middle to provide coverage and then blended it to the edges to create a subtle glow. For her eyes, I used a matte brown all over from the COVERGIRL Chocoholic palette, then added shimmery all over, and finished by glossing the top to create dimension. This gave her a slick eye look, and gave the appearance that she emerged from heaven." – Joanna Simkin

Jessie James Decker at the Country Music Awards Get the Look

RED CARPET REPORT 51st Country Music Awards

WHO: Jessie James Decker

HAIR BY: Marissa Marino

INSPIRATION: “Jessie’s classic red gown shows off her growing baby bump, so we wanted to sweep her long, voluminous hair to the back in a gorgeous wavy ponytail to keep her ensemble sleek and elegant.”

TIPS/TECHNIQUE:

To start, I prepped with a mousse and blow-dried hair with the new ghdair nocturne hairdryer ($199). I then used the ghdCURVE classic wave wand ($199), wrapping 1-inch sections starting at the bottom of her hair around the wand. I love this wand because of the oval shape that gives you that perfectly imperfect wave. After the hair cooled down, I combed them out a bit to make them more natural and effortless looking.

To prepare for the ponytail, I separated the top and sides of the hair and clipped those pieces away, putting the remaining hair into a ponytail. Then, I backcombed the top and sides, pinning these pieces into the ponytail to create a more undone, romantic look. For the finishing touch, I set the look with hairspray and she was good to go!

PRODUCTS: ghdair nocturne hairdryer ($199), ghdCURVE classic wave wand ($199)

All ghd products are available online at ghd hair and Sephora, as well as in-store at Sephora!

2. I then massaged in the ghd heat protectant spray ($22) and about five pumps of the ghd straight & tame cream ($24) from roots to tip to create a sleek look.

What’s Up At ghd Hair And Bonus GTL For Khloe, Kerry and Olivia

Have you ever wondered how Hollywood’s leading ladies keep their hair healthy and strong on the Red Carpet during Award’s season? All of those “touch-ups” and even mid-show style changes! That is some rough going on gentle locks for sure! Well, apparently the answer to this question is contained within a tube… the secret to long-lasting lovely locks seems to be ghd’s Advanced Split End Therapy. This magic restores hair by nourishing dry damaged ends and replenishing overworked tresses.

Unlike other hair treatments, the Advanced Split End Therapy ($28) features the ghd Thermo-Marine Bonding System, which is activated by the heat of your styler to bind broken hair fibers together to smooth and seal the hair, leaving hair feeling sleeker, smoother, and shinier for up to 10 washes. Fortify hair from styling damage and environmental stress for A-list hair all winter long. Hmmm… sounds amazing right about now. Okay, are you ready for the GTL for Khloe Kardashian, Kerry Washington, and Olivia Culpo?

We are OBSESSED with the half-up braided hairstyle ghd Brand Ambassador Justine Marjan created for Khloe Kardashian.

Step 1:  Prep damp hair with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth serum then blowdry with a smoothing brush and the ghd air hairdryer ($199).

Step 2: Create the partings for 3 braided sections, one on either side of the eyebrow, and one at the center parting.

Step 3: Add styling pomade to each sections, then create a braid to the crown of the head and clip away.

Step 4:  Once every section is braided, add pomade to the sections between the braids then comb into a half up hairstyle and secure with an elastic.

Step 5:  Flat iron the rest of the hair with a ghd platinum styler ($249), then use more serum through the ends.

Justine Marjan was busy creating this season’s hottest hairstyles at the Sundance Film Festival for Kerry Washington and Olivia Culpo. Check out these tips on how Justine created Kerry Washington’s voluminous, textured ponytail and Olivia Culpo’s edgy, dutch braid ponytail.

Kerry Washington’s Textured Ponytail How-To:

Step 1: “I used my ghd platinum styler ($249) to smooth the hair before gathering it into a high ponytail with styling pomade at the roots.”

Step 2: “I curled the pony in tiny sections alternating directions with my ghd curve classic curl iron ($199). Then I sprayed the pony with dry shampoo, lifted it up and backbrushed, then pieced it out with the end of my rat tail comb and sprayed with extreme hold hairspray to finish.”

Olivia Culpo’s Braided Ponytail How-To:

Step 1: “First apply Keratin Smooth serum to damp hair then blow dry smooth with a ghd air hairdryer ($199) and flat brush. Then create a clean middle part, then another part from the arch of the eyebrow to the crown of the head. Clip the rest of the hair away.”

Step 2: “ Next apply smoothing pomade to the roots then create a Dutch Braid on either side of the middle part. When the braid reaches the crown of the head, create a 3-strand braid to the ends and secure with an elastic. Apply more pomade to the roots of the rest of the hair then use a fine toothcomb to gather into a high ponytail.

Step 3: “Lastly, spray a smoothing brush with high impact hairspray then brush the hair into a smooth pony and secure with a hair bungee. Using the ghd curve classic curl iron ($199) to curl through the length of the pony then wrap the base with velvet ribbon to finish.”

Jennifer Garner At The 2016 Toronto International Film Festival Get The Look

Jennifer Garner looked, as usual, classically stunning as she took the Red Carpet on Tuesday, September 13 at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Jennifer wore a Peter Pilotto dress for the premiere of Wakefield, which co-stars Bryan Cranston, Ian Anthony Dale, and Victoria Bruno, as well as writer-director Robin Swicord. To enhance the relaxed elegance of Jennifer’s dress, Macadamia Professional International Creative Director, Giannandrea opted loose, beachy waves.

Hair How To: Jennifer Garner’s Loose Waves - 2016 TIFF Wakefield Premiere

Step 1. Prep wet hair for blow drying by applying a palm sized amount of Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer to the crown to add body and Macadamia Professional Blow Dry Lotion through the lengths to smooth and prevent heat damage.

Step 2. Blow dry large sections with a 2” round brush to create volume. Section off three mid-sized sections at the crown and wrap with Velcro rollers. Let the rollers cool for 15 minutes.

Step 3. While the rollers are cooling wrap a 1.25” curling iron around the remaining hair to create waves on all sides. Keep the ends straight.

Step 4. Take the rollers out and gently tease the top of the crown. Create a middle part.

Step 5. To add extra definition to curls, gently clamp a straightener on each curve of the hair. Hold for a few seconds, and then move to the next bend you’d like to make look perfectly undone.

Step 6. When you’re finished with the straightening, gently brush the hair while being careful to keep the volume. Smooth the front pieces to frame the face.

Step 7. Spray Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Dry Oil Micro Mist to add shine without weighing down hair.

Step 8. Finish with Macadamia Professional Flex Hold Shaping Hairspray for a light hold with natural movement.

Becky G at the 2016 Premios Juventud: Get The Look

Becky G gave the Red Carpet a whole new glow at last night’s 2016 Premios Juventud in Miami. The Mexican-American singer, actress and COVERGIRL, opted for a marigold hued Michael Costello gown that was a twist on classic glam to the carpet. Sporting a bronze eye look with some major lash game, Team TME has the how-to for recreating her look -- straight from Becky G’s makeup artist Etienne Ortega.

Etienne went for a classic, natural look for tonight’s carpet. “Everything was based off Becky’s outfit and performance. We went for a beautiful bronze red carpet look to start the night, and work her way up to what’s coming up for her performance,” shared Etienne.

Get The Look -- Becky G at the 2016 Premios Juventud:

  1. To fight shine on the carpet in the humid Miami weather, we used COVERGIRL Clean Matte BB Cream in Medium Deep for all over coverage, and a sleek matte finish. Matte finish is great for photography because the light does not bounce off the shine of your face. Instead, you achieve your full-face look with minimal bounce back.
  1. Next we used COVERGIRL Clean Matte Pressed Powder to set Becky’s foundation and ensure her face makeup would stay in place all night long.
  1. For adding a little summer glow, we used COVERGIRL truBlend Bronzer as a contour and to give her cheekbones a sun kissed look.
  1. Then to soften the look, we used COVERGIRL truBlend Blush in Medium on the apples of the cheeks.
  1. Becky’s honey brown eyes pop in bronze and nude tones, so we used COVERGIRL truNaked Shadow Palette in Goldens for golden color and smoky shine. Using my ring finger I applied the shadow to her lid moving from dark to light shades across the eye towards the nose, and then blended out with a small brush. As Becky said, “Nudes never fail!”
  1. For dark, glamorous brows we filled them in with COVERGIRL Pow-Der Brow and Liner in Dark Brown.
  1. Then we coated her lashes using COVERGIRL Super Sizer Fibers Mascara, which has a fiber infused formula for instant length in one easy step.
  1. Finally to finish the look, we used COVERGIRL Oh Sugar! Lip Balm in Caramel for a natural, subtle pout.

Chrissy Teigen's Edgy New Haircut with TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu

TRESemmé Celebrity Brand Ambassador Chrissy Teigen recently debuted an edgy, new “don’t cut the front” haircut that puts a fresh spin on the lob. Keeping hair longer and thicker in the front gives the appearance of fuller hair without over- layering. TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu weighs in on the trend and offers tips for styling the look at home.

“The key to making this look work is to let it swing and move, and that starts with using volumizing products like the new TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Collection. This new cut offers so many styling options that girls love!,” said Jeanie.

Follow Jeanie’s Tips to Re-Create Chrissy’s Modern Textured Look:

1.     Begin by washing hair using the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner and  Shampoo to set the foundation for a voluminous look.

2.     Apply TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Touchable Bounce Mousse to towel-dried hair and blow dry upside down, using fingers to shake and pull at the roots.

Emily Blunt ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War’ Premiere Get The Look

StriVectin HAIR Advisory Stylist Ashley Streicher worked on her client, Emily Blunt, at the Monday, April 11 L.A. premiere of “TheHuntsman: Winter’s War”. Emily's dress was a Valentino, sort of bohemian, gown -- light colored with ruffles and very low cut neckline. With Emily visibly pregnant, the goal was to go with a soft look all together. Ashley’s sister, Jenn Streicher, does Emily's makeup, so the ladies were able to have a look at the dress and talk about what would be best. Soft and modern was the goal.

Get The Look:

Step 1: I started Emily with freshly cleaned hair, which was also treated with StriVectin Color Care Vibrancy Booster for added shine and radiance, and a freshly colored effect.

Step 2: We gave her a nice, modern center part and sprayed her roots with StriVectin HAIR Max Volume Root Lift Spray, while massaging ends with Max Volume Bodifying Radiance Serum.

Step 3: I blew out her hair using a small round boar bristle brush, not giving too much volume, but just enough for some all-around movement.

Step 4: Next, I went through the crown of her hair with Sachajuan Dry Volume Powder in Dark, for some hold and volume. I used a clear elastic to pull hair into a low, loose pony leaving softness in the front, and spraying all over with a dry medium-hold hairspray.

Step 5: Last, I wrapped up the pony into a loose knot, pinning in place with bobby pins, and finished with an all over spray of dry hairspray (Rene Furterer Vegetal Strong Hold Finishing Spray).

All products are available at Sephora.

Chrissy Teigen 2016 Grammy Awards Hair Look How To

At the 58th annual Grammy Awards event on Monday, Feb. 15 mom-to-be Chrissy Teigen looked absolutely glowing as she and husband John Legend hit the Red Carpet. Chrissy teamed up with Celebrity Stylist Jen Atkin for an amazing hair look for the event. Atkin gave the stunning mother-to-be an on-trend ponytail using TRESemmé's new Beauty-Full Volume collection.

Get The Look With TRESemmé:

First prep the hair using the entire TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume reverse wash system. Atkin used the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner followed by the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo.

Next, Atkin applied the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximizer. As she continued, she applied the OUAI soft mousse directly to Teigen's damp hair. Taking a large metal round brush, Atkin started blowing drying the Chrissy’s hair straight. Once the hair was completely dry, she used a flat iron and straightened the hair.

Then apply OUAI hair oil followed by the OUAI finishing cream before gathering the hair. Taking the hair gathered, create a high ponytail before securing it with a brown bungee brand elastic. Pro Tip: “To hide the bungee band, wrap section of hair from ponytail around the bungee band and secure with small hair pin” -Jen Atkin

Once completed, mist some of the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Flexible Finish Hairspray on a toothbrush to brush away flyaways. To finish the look apply more OUAI hair oil through the entire ponytail. This will create a very smooth yet sleek style.

Blake Lively At NYC ‘Dead Pool’ Premiere Get the Look

Blake Lively was, as usual, absolutely stunning at the New York City “Dead Pool” premiere on Tuesday, Feb. 9th. We have the full on GTL for Blake’s hair start from Celebrity Stylist, Rod Ortega for L’Oréal Paris!

Inspiration: “We wanted to create a slightly tousled, chic look for the premiere. We opted for slightly bent curls with a shiny finish” - Rod Ortega

Get The Look:

Step 1. Prep hair by washing with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Shampoo & Conditioner ($4.99 each) to help nourish the hair and give it lustrous shine.

Step 2. Then, on damp hair, apply L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Blow Out HeatSpray ($4.99). Comb the product through the hair before starting the blow dry. This helps to distribute the product evenly and gives hair a bit of structure and voluminous boost.

Step 3. Next, flip the head over and blow dry, really focusing on getting the roots nice and dry.

Step 4: Once the Roots are dry, flip head back and use a round brush to finish the drying. Part the hair during the drying process. For Blake, we opted for a deep side part, but you can also do a middle part if desired.

Step 5. After hair is blown out, take a 1” – 2” body waver iron and wrap 1” sections of hair from ear to ear to create loose, soft waves. After curling the hair, clip immediately.

Step 6. Spritz L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Lock It Fine Control Hairspray ($4.99) on the curls as the hair is cooling. I like to use two different hairsprays, so this one is great to use first because it has a very nice, light hold.

Step 7. Once the hair is cool, take a big paddle brush and brush hair from root to ends to help full distribute the hairspray and create a moveable look.

Step 8. To finish, tuck behind the ear and pin if necessary. Take L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray ($14.99) and spray all over to give hair hold, as well as the most beautiful shine and body.

L’Oréal Paris products are available at mass retailers nationwide.
