Step Out with Stylish Locks This Holiday Season with InStyler

InStyler has tapped Emmy-Nominated Celebrity Hairstylist and InStyler Global Artist Dean Banowetz to help you celebrate the holidays in style.  Banowetz shares his favorite on-trend holiday hair looks -- the Mistletoe Top Knot and the Black Tie Twist -- that can easily be recreated at-home with the brand’s best-selling MAX 2-Way Rotating Iron.

“Each style can be customized to what each woman wants to help them look and feel their best,” says Banowetz. “I love accenting a style with unexpected, easy-to-find items, such as weaving in a piece of fabric to compliment your outfit or strands of tinsel for a festive look!”

MISTLETOE TOP KNOT - This look inspired by Actress Taraji P.Henson is perfect for day-to-night festivities or to get the most out of a second day style:

  • Prep hair with the MAX 2-Way Rotating Iron by smoothing and straightening from roots to ends.
  • Pull hair into a half-up half-down ponytail at the height you desire.
  • Create a mid-tension braid and secure 2-3 inches from the ends of the hair with a clear hair elastic.
  • Lightly tug the braid on each side to create volume and texture, pending how thick your hair is and how big of a braid you want.
  • Wrap the braid around the base of the ponytail to form a bun and secure with an elastic and bobby pins for any stray hairs.
*Dean’s tip: use matte bobby pins for extra grip!

BLACK TIE TWIST - An elegant take on boho waves, as sported by Actress Chloe Grace Moretz. It can work on many lengths of hair – from bob-length to long hair:

  • Prep hair by smoothing all over with MAX 2-Way Rotating Iron.
  • Divide hair into three large sections and use MAX 2-Way Rotating Iron to add loose waves before creating the style. Simply wrap individual sections around the barrel, close and let the rotating barrel polish the hair as it curls, and release the curl after 5-10 seconds.
  • Part hair down the middle and pull a large section on each side of the temple.
  • Begin twisting securely in an upward direction towards the back of the head, grabbing more sections along the side as you go, until the two twists meet.
  • Secure both sides at the middle back of the head with a neutral colored elastic or bobby pins for shorter hair
  • Loosen each “tornado” by gently pulling the twist.
*Dean’s tip: you can make this look all your own by doing one twist instead of two, or more than two twists; you can also have both twists meet at one side versus the middle.
