Fall Favorites That You Have To Try

Wow, did fall arrive today or what? It's a new season and so many new beauty products to try and to love! We've sorted through quite a few to find our favorites and hopefully yours!

evolis Professional Style & Treat Dry Shampoo ($30) Created with 100% botanical actives to both style your hair and treat your scalp. This shampoo instantly absorbs excess oil while delivering their patented blend of FGF5 inhibitors. By blocking FGF5, the negative effects can be reversed, resulting in the restoration of hair density, promotion of new growth and the preservation of existing hair strands.  Ideal for all hair types, Style +Treat Dry Shampoo revives your hair style while lifting your roots for incredible volume and fullness.

Tatcha Violet-C Brightening Serum ($88) Vitamin C isn't new, but it definitely is having a strong resurgence in popularity. The Tatcha Violet-C Brightening Serum is an oil and fragrance-free serum that packs a whopping 20 percent concentration of vitamin C that deliver both instant and long-term results. A 10 percent concentration of AHAs joins the mix -- all working together to leave your skin firmer, smoother, and noticeably more glowy.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream ($30) This best-selling cream is getting a revamp, now reformulated to be entirely paraben-free. But don't worry, you won't be able to tell that your beloved moisturizer has changed -- it took Kiehl's scientists five years and more than 114 different versions to come up with this final formula that works!

Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation ($48 - available in 30 shades) A pearl extract in this medium-to-full coverage base helps reflect light to give your skin an instant glow, regardless of whether you're standing in front of a ring light or sitting under yellow-y office bulbs. The lightweight, moisturizing formula promises to stay put for up to 15 hours, keeping your skin looking flawless and feeling hydrated.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Barriair Cream ($30) As a general rule, creams promising to restore and calm your skin are usually, well, super thick and heavy. Not this newbie, which is packed with hard-working, skin-coddling ingredients, but it has an airy, whipped texture that feels more like a gel moisturizer than a heavy-hitting hydrator. There's hyaluronic acid to moisturize the skin, colloidal oatmeal to soothe it, and ceramides and linoleic acid to help strengthen the skin barrier.

Kopari Coconut Detox Mask ($38) We think of this mask as a juice cleanse for our skin! Bentonite and kaolin clays go to town pulling impurities out of your pores, while coconut oil hydrates, and probiotics help keep the top layer of skin feeling balanced and looking fresh.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation Balm ($64) A blend of waxes and oils gives this foundation formula its initial balm-like consistency, which, when smoothed over skin, transforms into a cream, and later, a powder. Made with 15 percent pigments, it packs a hefty punch of complete coverage and has a perfectly matte finish despite its creamy consistency.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer ($28 available in 22 shades) The latest addition to the brand's best-selling Ultra HD line, this cover-up doesn't need to be set with powder, thanks to the unique amino-acid coated pigments that immediately conform to your skin, staying put for up to 12 hours without caking or creasing.

Maybelline New York Snapscara ($6) Maybelline knows a thing or two about mascara, and their newest Snapscara formula is one of their best yet. The thin, flexible pigment tints your lashes and leaves them looking super glossy, but also adds a little thickness and lots of length.

Dior Lip Glow To The Max ($34) Dior Lip Glow To The Max is the same beloved Lip Glow, now with a yummy new look and a touch more pigment. In this new formula, the sheer, tinted balm is spiked with pigment — those are the candy-colored swirls you see in the bullet — to both hydrate your lips and leave them with a bit more of a tint than the original formula does. Take your pick from seven different shades, five with a dewy finish and two that leave behind a holographic sheen.

Tenoverten Rose Polish Remover ($14) What you won't find in this polish remover: acetone, parabens, or any unpleasant odors. What you will find: vitamin E, horsetail leaf extract, and aloe to help hydrate and strengthen your nails. Green beauty lovers should add this to their product stash, stat.

Five Winter Beauty Problems Solved

This week's weather has been brutal! We've made super nutritious soup and super delicious hot chocolate, but nothing seems to shake off this cold! We're voting to run off to a warmer climate! To make matters worse it sort of seems like our hair and skin are like a misbehaving toddler and this certainly doesn't make the cold any easier to cope with. The winter weather brings unique beauty challenges, from static hair to dry skin, chapped lips and watery eyes. So until we can make our great escape to somewhere warm and sunny, we might as well make the best of things around here and share some winter beauty tips.

1. Static Hair: Both an external and internal problem. While we can do little to control the external dry air sans remaining in a hermetically sealed environment, we have control over how we treat our hair. Dry hair is the underlying issue with static hair problems. So getting hydration back into those tresses is the part of the solution. You can afford to skip shampoos during the winter and opt to use a dry shampoo and try a once per week treatment like Harklinikken Hair Hydrating Mask ($56).

2. Dry Hair: When you’ve worked to get hydration back in your hair, don’t zap it out with stylers. While you may think that you need a little extra gel or finishing spray to control those flyaways, you’re actually weighing you hair down and drying your hair out! Opt for fewer products, alcohol-free stylers, and change up your styling tools. Use your blow dryer on a lower setting with a diffuser and a natural bristled brush like our favorite Mason Pearson Brush ($150). And under no circumstances should you take that flat iron to your head without using a thermal protectent!

3. Dry Skin: For starters, resist the temptation to take long, hot showers or baths. Hot showers and baths feel fantastic on a cold winter morning, but they’re actually hydration stealers. Skip the bath and opt for a shower spending no more than 15 minutes and keep the temperature warm. Use a hydrating shower gel and after your shower, you need to get moisture back into your skin so don't skip the body moisturizer and one super hydrating moisturizer that we've found is Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer ($10).

4. Chapped Lips: Easily one of the biggest winter weather beauty issues. Aside from cold temperatures and blistery winds, a big contributor to chapped lips is the habit of licking your lips when they feel dry. Get hooked on hydration with lip balm. For nighttime, grab a non-petroleum based product like Waxelene ($35).

5. Watery Eyes: Between blistery winds and sun glare no wonder our peepers start to water. While you can opt for all the waterproof cosmetics available, why not take a super easy preventative measure like sunglasses? Aside from protecting your peepers from the elements, sunglasses are a fabulous way to stylishly give your eyes a rest from sun glare and our pick of the moment is a pair of Dior Reflected Aviator Sunglasses ($550).

PFW SS 2015 Redken Roundup: Celine, Christian Dior, Lanvin, Loewe, Maison Martin Margiela

From the refined style of Celine to the modern style of Dior and everything in between, Redken International Creative Consultant GuidoPaulo gives us the inspiration and complete “Get The Look” for Paris Fashion Week!

Show: Celine Spring/Summer 2015

Redken Creative Consultant Guido created a classic, refined style that captured the essence of the sophisticated Celine woman for their Spring/Summer 2015 show in Paris. “The Celine look is super chic and super rich. Again, it is that beautiful easy texture we have been seeing throughout the whole fashion season. We put the hair up halfway and added these elegant gold barrettes that Celine has made that look just like a beautiful circle in the hair. It’s amazing how that one simple hair accessory can elevate this simple hairstyle into something super rich and modern. By adding Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender and wind blown 05 dry finishing spray, the hair has this textured look that is super easy but very luxe.” Guido

Redken Products Used: Extreme Hair Strengthening Shampoo, Extreme Hair Strengthening Conditioner, Pillow Proof Blow Dry express primer, Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, wind blown 05 dry finishing spray

How To Create The Look:
  1. Wash hair using Extreme Hair Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner.
  2. Thoroughly mist Pillow Proof Blow Dry express primer all over damp hair. If working with straight hair, let air-dry. If wavy or curly, blow-dry hair using a round brush.
  3. Gather top half of hair and apply a light mist of Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, layered with wind blown 05 dry finishing spray for light texture.
  4. Secure with barrette.

Show: Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2015

Creating the perfect combination of modern and natural, Guido let the hair make its own simple, fresh statement at Christian Dior’s Spring/Summer 2015 show in Paris. “Dior’s look is modern and very sophisticated in its non-reference to anything else but to now. I think that’s the great thing about natural hair, it doesn’t reference a specific period of time. It really, truly is a modern look. When the clothes are this beautiful, they see the natural hair and that's enough. For a modern designer like Raf, he imagines this girl of today and doesn’t reference any other era. To enhance this overall attitude, I used Diamond Oil High Shine Shampoo and Conditioner and let the hair air-dry. The center part and hair tucked behind the ears is a look that still feels luxurious but is something that real woman can identify with.” Guido

Redken Products Used: Diamond Oil High Shine Shampoo (available in November in salons), Diamond Oil High Shine Conditioner (available in November in salons)

How To Create The Look:

  2. Create a natural center part using fingers.
  3. Tuck hair behind ears.

Show: Lanvin Spring/Summer 2015

For Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2015 show in Paris, Guido created a classic knot accompanied by an elegant gold hair accessory to complement the range of both young and mature models, emphasizing Lanvin’s ability to adapt to all types of beauty. “I did very simple hair here with mess around 10 disrupting cream-paste and using my fingers to rake the hair back and put it in a classic knot. I applied a gold hair accessory underneath the knot to add a little bit of sheath and glamour. I used forceful 23 super strength finishing spray to build some shine and accentuate my raked hair, creating a very classic look. The show features a wide mix of girls – some feminine and some mature, which proves just how conducive Lanvin is to different kinds of beauty.” Guido

  4. Generously spray wind blown 05 dry finishing spray all over ponytail to create airy texture.
  5. Twist hair into a knot and secure with open fasteners.
  6. Finish with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray all over head. Apply gold comb underneath the knot for added elegant touch.

Show: Loewe Spring/Summer 2015

At Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2015 show in Paris, Guido created a very natural style, which has been a prominent look throughout many, shows this season. “This look is a very natural one, with an off-center side part and this texture that we have been seeing a lot during this Fashion Week season. It almost feels like the new blow-out but its super-rich looking and highlights this extremely healthy, luxurious hair. I washed the hair with the new Diamond Oil High Shine Shampoo and Conditioner for added shine and let it dry naturally, and then ran the hairdryer through the hairline to make sure it looks really beautiful. Then just tuck the hair behind the ears and go.” Guido

Show: Maison Martin Margiela Spring/Summer 2015

Guido replicated a "caught in the rain" look at Maison Martin Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2015 show in Paris to complement the unexpected feminine twists within the collection. “The hair here is a wet, just got out of the shower look so we are leaving in the hair Redken’s Extreme Anti-Snap leave-in treatment. We dampened the dry hair with water using a spray bottle to add a look of controlled wetness and combed the hair back. Just before going on the runway, we spritzed the hairline with the Extreme Anti-snap so it feels like it is sticking to neck, creating a very sensual and womanly look.” Guido
