Donna Karan New York (DKNY) launched a new Facebook
application on Dec. 17 called “Celebrity Dressing 2.0”. And the app launch was
well planned, as preparations for red carpet celebrity gowns for the 70th
Golden Globe Awards are under way.
The “Celebrity Dressing 2.0” app will allow fashionistas
across the globe to receive an exclusive behind the scenes view of a
celebrity’s red carpet dress as it moves through all of the stages from
conception to completion, providing users with an in depth look at the making
of an evening gown. Users can look at the inspiration behind a dress, see
celebrity fittings -- all of which will be kept anonymous -- and if all goes
according to plan, witness the dresses big reveal on the red carpet. The app
can also be used to watch a visual history of the DKNY brand and how it's
changed through the years.
Aliza Licht, senior vice president of global communications
at Donna Karan, told WWD, "For years, I would document the trials and
tribulations of award show dressing [via Twitter] and really let people know
what was going on behind the scenes. It was just conversational, and there were
always so many questions about how it works, so we decided to take celebrity
dressing to the next level in the visual sense." Aliza is the woman behind
the amazing Twitter handle DKNY PR GIRL.
So, are you salivating to get in on the action and find out
what DKNY will create? It’s a simple as liking the Donna Karan New York
Facebook page and if that isn’t enough of a fix, join the conversation on
Twitter using the hashtag #DonnaKaranAtelier!
