You Can Never Go Wrong with Nude

The Nude Lip trend is anything but basic and so far from leaving our lips! The look is a perfect pairing to complement a natural beauty look, complete a high voltage eye look or make a bold statement on its own. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been, but Team TME was rather surprised to see the range of nude shades within the Estée Edit Barest Lip Colors and Lip Liners collection. With hues ranging from light to dark the Estée Edit Barest Collection is perfectly shade-matched and, together create the ultimate nude lip kit for any skin tone.

Feeling Monochromatic? Choose a duo that best matches your skin tone. Or plump up your pout by over lining your natural lip contour with a deeper shade. You could even paint the perfect ombre lip by lining with a shade deeper than your lip color. This Estée Edit collection offers endless nude lip combinations, allowing you to find the perfect lip kit that matches your mood. Regardless of any outfit or occasion, you can never go wrong with nude!

The Estée Edit Barest Lip Colors and Lip Liners are available at Estée Lauder and Sephora.

Estée Lauder Introduces New Skin Loving BB Cream and Highlighter

Courtesy of Estee Lauder
Estée Lauder has introduced the first luminous and long-wear BB makeup, which hit cosmetic counters on Feb. 1. Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup SPF 30 and Double Wear Brush-On-Glow BB Highlighter are designed to sooth, refresh and protect the skin.

These two exciting new makeup additions have a nourishing, skin loving formula and sheer, natural coverage to provide a luminous, fresh-faced look that does indeed last all day. The new Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup SPF 30 ($38 – available in 8 shades) is a creamy soothing BB cream makeup with a lightweight texture that delivers instant brightening to tired skin. The Makeup Examiner loves they super hydrating formula of Estée’s new BB cream, and of course the SPF 30 that will protect my face against the winter sun! Can’t wait to test out the lightweight formula through the warmer months … can’t wait for the warm weather to arrive!

New Double Wear Brush-On-Glow BB Highlighter ($27.50) is delivered via a brush tube, which offers one stroke highlighting. The formula is radiant, moisturizing and long lasting. Using Photo Optic technology, Double Wear Brush-On-Glow BB Highlighter brightens shadows, helping erase the look of fatigue and dark circles as it highlights facial features. Has it replaced TME’s favorite Benefit’s Watts Up? The verdict is still out, but Double Wear Brush-On-Glow BB Highlighter is certainly a contender. Estée Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup SPF 30 and Double Wear Brush-On-Glow BB Highlighter are available online at Estée Lauder and Estée Lauder counters nationwide.

Estée Lauder Unveils ‘Modern Muse,’ but it is worth a try?

Designed for today’s modern woman, Estée Lauder has launched the brand’s newest scent, “Modern Muse”. Just like her fellow beautynistas, The Makeup Examiner is equally intrigued with the creative process behind any brand’s new offering, as with the product itself. For The Makeup Examiner, it was thrilling to get a peek at the processes that went into achieving Modern Muse, and of course, a brief history lesson for one of the industry’s most iconic brands, that ties into the scent’s inspiration.

The approach to Estée Lauder’s latest offering is “duality”. Modern Muse is composed of fairly contradicting accords. Estée Lauder revealed the “Sparkling Jasmine Accord,” that is a grouping of mandarin, honeysuckle and two extractions of Jasmine Sambac, including one new to the perfumery palette, Jasmine Sambac China Absolute. This accord is contradicted with “Sleek Woods Accord” that combines two Patchouli essences, Madagascar Vanilla, Amber Wood and soft Musk.

Upon reading the contradicting accords, The Makeup Examiner didn’t see how the accords would blend to produce a scent worth wearing. Yes TME loves her fragrances, but she’s very loyal to one house and the perfume best be brilliant for her to “stray”. Modern Muse offers a fresh, predominantly jasmine scent that is not overbearing, with distinctive woodsy undertones. It’s simple and lovely and easily a “go-to” fragrance when you’re looking for a scent that is upscale, light, and the perfect scent transition for the cooler weather.

Duality is also part of the Modern Muse package design. Choosing blush pink and deep navy as the Modern Muse colors and a strong, tall luxurious glass bottle with soft rounded sides. Blush pink was chosen to represent the soft, feminine side of today's woman, while navy blue signifies strength and gives node to the trademark color of the Estée Lauder brand. A key element of the bottle design … the bow … was inspired by the iconic bow on Estée Lauder’s first fragrance, Youth Dew, which launched in 1953. For Modern Muse, the bow has been re-imagined in dark navy as the ultimate symbol of style and sophistication. Modern Muse ($58-$98) is available online and at Estée Lauder counters nationwide.

Estée Lauder partners with Opening Ceremony

In August of this year, Estée Lauder announced a unique partnership with fashion house Opening Ceremony. “On what?” you ask. Would you believe a brand new wardrobe for Estée Lauder Beauty Advisors? Estée Lauder partnered with Opening Ceremony founders, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, to create a collection that is envy worthy and will leave wishing you were one of the 15,000 beauty advisors that Estée Lauder has on staff.

The collection includes:

  • Short Sleeved Pleated Dress - Flirty and flattering, this dress features Estée Lauder’s new jacquard print, inspired by an Estée Lauder pattern. Fitted at the torso and waist, with an invisible zipper at the back, the dress flares out with a full sweeping hem and incorporates Estée Lauder’s new detachable, enameled belt, modeled after a vintage compact.
  • Jacquard Peplum Blouse - The jacquard blouse has a beautiful, tailored body and waistline to create curves and conceal well, um, curves. Fullness from the waist down adds a dressy flair, while princess seams provide shape and contouring.
  • Slim Pant - This ultra-sleek pant flatters with a fitted waist and straight leg. It’s accompanied by Estée Lauder’s signature enameled belt and features front zippers with front slash pockets.
Inspired by Estée Launder vintage compacts and iconic “Rope Weave” pattern, Lim and Leon developed an amazing collection of chic slacks and separates. The above list is just a fraction of the entire collection and if you’re wondering where you can purchase a piece, or two, the answer is nowhere. Not a single item is for sale. The only place where you can acquire the collection is if you become an Estée Lauder Beauty Advisor. Beautynistas can expect to see the new wardrobes on beauty advisors Fall 2013.

Exclusive ‘On The Runway with Estée Lauder Fall 2013: Get the look

Tom Pecheux for Estée Lauder created the new The Metallics Pure Color Collection, which launched at the beginning of August. Taking a look behind-the-scenes at the Derek Lam Fall 2013 Show, beautynistas are treated to an exclusive view of one of the season’s most exciting makeup lines and looks, and the full on how-to! Does a Wednesday get any better?

Let’s begin with the sexy, new, limited-edition The Metallics Pure Color Collection from Estée Lauder. The fall 2013 collection is a combination of the high reflective shine and intense color for eyes, lips and nails, which can be applied for a soft and elegant look or a smash bold intensely sexy look. The collection includes Pure Color Instant Intense EyeShadow Trios ($36) in eight different palettes, Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer ($25) in 18 different hues, and Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer by Jin Soon Choi for Estée Lauder ($20) in 8 shades.

Featured in this how-to is Estée Lauder Global Spokesmodel, Liu Wen. Her look is so enchanting, yet so achievable. How to Get the Beauty Look Created by Tom Pecheux for the Derek Lam Fall 2013 Show:

  • Start with Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Infusion applied under eye area for a beautiful, luminous look.
  • Massage your skin with Advanced Night Repair face serum, followed by your favorite Estée Lauder moisturizer.
  • Apply Double Wear Light Makeup and blend well.
  • Over foundation, use Illuminating Perfecting Primer at the top of cheekbones and on forehead as a highlighter.
  • Finish with Lucidity Translucent Loose Powder on T-zone only.
  • Note: Cheeks were absent of color. Kept nude, without hard definition, so all the focus was on eyes and lips.

  • Create a ray of light at the center of eyelid only. With fingertips, apply subtle layers of shadow from center of lashline up to brow.
  • Start with a subtle wash of Pure Color EyeShadow in Black Crystals.
  • Over it, add Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Raisins and layer only the deeper shade (on right).
  • Finish with Pure Color EyeShadow in Cyber Silver applied on top. Blend evenly for an earthy (bohemian) vibe.
  • Note: No mascara or brow definer is used for this look.

  • Smooth on Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Copper Flash across entire lip.
  • Over lipstick, use Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in Wine and generously apply across entire lip to add depth and create a matte look.
  • Using your finger, pat on Pure Color Gloss in Brazen Berry to create a lip stained effect

From this look, imagination is inspired and we can easily see how The Metallics Pure Color Collection can be utilized to get a multitude of looks for fall 2013. The Metallics Pure Color Collection is available at select locations nationwide and at Estée Lauder.
