Summer 2017 Beauty and Grooming Essentials Part Two

Hey! Before you run off to parts known and unknown to kick off what is going to be the best summer ever, we wanted to make sure that you had a whisper about the best beauty and men’s grooming essentials for Summer 2017. Check out “Summer 2017 Beauty and Grooming Essentials Part One” and read on for even more products that are going to make this season sizzle!

For The Guys: TME has always had a really strong male readership. We love that! And it was a specific endeavor on the part of Yvonne to bring the guys into the fold. We still find it kinda cute that the guys can be a little shy about asking questions. Don’t be! You deserve to pamper yourselves just as much as the ladies.

Our current favorites just for our guys … L’Occitane’s Cade Collection ($65) - rich with woody notes of juniper, sandalwood, pink pepper and rosemary, this set includes Cade Shaving Cream, Cade Shower Gel for Hair and Body and Cade After-Shave Balm. L’Occitane’s Mer & Mistral Collection ($75) – is bursting with zesty and sweet citrus, along with rosemary, pine and cypress! This is such a fresh and clean fragranced collection that had every member of Team TME in complete agreement that you need this for Summer 2017! The Mer & Mistral Collection includes Mer & Mistral Eau de Toilette, Shower Gel and Body Lotion. If you haven’t gotten one of Harry’s Shave Sets, treat yourself. A few years ago, Yvonne gave a Harry’s Razor to her “has everything, needs nothing” brother and he hasn’t used another brand since. Team TME’s Harry Pick; Harry’s Daily Face Wash ($7) and Harry’s Truman Razor Set ($15) that includes Truman Razor Handle, Foaming Shave Gel, 3 Blade Cartridges, and Travel Blade Cover. Rounding out our picks for the guys is the Evolutionman Sport Guy Kit ($80) that includes Nu Noir Face & Body Wash, Moisture Protect SPF 20, Lip Balm SPF 15, EVMAN Sport Bottle, and EVMAN Square Dopp Kit Bag.

Lovely Locks: Wouldn’t it be amazing if the summer breezes didn’t blow up our hair? Sun at the beach, chlorine poolside, humidity … oh vey! Before you resign yourself to donning that hat that you bought for Coachella, Team TME has a few other options for controlling unruly summertime hair.

Sun and After Sun Hair Care: Phyto Plage Protective Sun Veil ($30) – this lightweight sun mist protects hair and guards color from UV damage or Macadamia Professional Sun Shield Dry Oil Veil ($20) with its delicious coconut cream scent, this pre-sun treatment spray shields hair from harmful rays. When you’re done playing in the sun, Macadamia Professional After Sun Leave-In Repair ($20) is perfect, as it absorbs instantly and helps nourish summer hair.

Wash It Out: There are so many shampoos and conditioners, but a few new ones that we are loving for the summer are the TRESemmé Bontanique Collection that includes TRESemmé Bontanique Shampoo and Conditioner ($5.99 each) which are infused with coconut milk and aloe vera.  There is also Macadamia Professional Endless Summer Sun & Surf Shampoo and Conditioner ($20 each) that keeps hair protected against UV rays while you’re soaking up the sun … and against chlorine and salt while you’re splashing around in the pool and ocean. Our final recommendation is Phyto Plage After-Sun Rehydrating Hair & Body Shampoo ($24), which is the perfect one-step cleansing gel to wash away sand, salt, and chlorine from hair, leaving it deeply moisturized and super-soft.

Stylin’: Beachy waves are a timeless summer look. Actually, we saw a lot of beach waves during Fashion Week. The relaxed gentle wave seems to fit just about everyone – no matter face shape or hair length … and even hair texture. Beach or “Boho” waves are just as appropriate for the office as for the beach. To achieve the look, it begins with the correct styling products. Our current favorites; ALTERNA Haircare Bamboo Beach Summer Ocean Waves Tousled Texture Spray ($22) and the BEACHWAVER Pro ($199.99), an innovative professional rotating curling iron invented by celebrity hairstylist and TME favorite Sarah Potempa. If you’re looking for volume, Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist ($28)!

Protect and Hold: Of course your only option for beautiful summer hair is not bound to beach waves. Peruse our Summer Beauty section for hairspiration and the tools for achieving those easy styles are plentiful. Our current favorites; Kérastase L'incroyable Blowdry ($40) to complete protect your locks; Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oleo Complex ($58), Phyto Phytolisse Ultra Glossing Finishing Serum ($30), Alterna Bamboo Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist ($25), and Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Perfect Texture Finishing Spray ($28). For on the go, we love Bosley Pro BosRenew Volumizing Dry Shampoo ($19) and Macadamia Professional Style Extend Dry Shampoo ($25).

The Tools: Anything that makes our lives easier is a major plus, especially when it comes to our hair or makeup during the summer. Perhaps, these two collections maybe oddly paired but we loved these so much that we had to mention them to our favorite people … our readers! Artis Fluenta 9 Brush Set ($450) and the invisibobble Original Secret Garden Collection ($25), which is a limited edition collection of hair rings that are perfect for a sleek ponytail or pinless chignon.

Have a safe and amazing holiday weekend! ~xo Team TME

Winter Skincare Tips For Men

Happy Monday lovelies and welcome the return of Manic Makeup Monday! The Makeup Examiner is yet convinced that men understand the importance (and actual enjoyment) of “luxury” grooming, let alone the basics of skincare. That’s not to stay that men folk are stupid, I believe that it’s a simple issue of not necessarily knowing what to do. My office is fairly well stocked with beauty/grooming products and it’s rather endearing when my “manly-man” brother comes into visit, pokes around and slyly asks what a particular men’s grooming product is for.

As usual, I digress. Winter temperatures and decreased humidity can leave your skin super dry. So, if you don’t currently have a skincare regime, now is as good a time as any to begin one. A skincare regime is seriously simple and you’re going to look and feel better once you begin one.

For starters, resist the temptation to take long, hot showers. Those showers may feel fantastic while you’re in there, but they’re actually hydration stealers. Limit your shower to no more than 15 minutes and keep the temperature warm. After your shower, you need to get moisture back into your skin. Suave puts out a line of excellent, fast-absorbing body moisturizers that run about $5 for a 32-ounce bottle.

Shaving can become an issue during the winter and soap should not be the “shaving cream” of choice ever, but most especially during the cold months. Edge Shave Gel for Sensitive Skin ($2.50 7.0 oz) is great product for you to take a little extra care of that oh-so-handsome face! A little Beauty Insider News just for the guys, Schick Hydro is doing a new product launch Winter 2013! For guys that are already adept at shaving and want to learn about luxury grooming products, check out The Art of Shaving and EVOLUTIONMAN!

You only get one face, so you gotta take care of your skin. Even if the sun isn’t on your mind at the moment, the sun’s UV rays can be substantially stronger in the winter, especially when they’re bouncing off the snow. Take care to use a moisturizer that contains SPF 20, like EVOLUTIONMAN’s Moisture Protect SPF 20 (2.75 oz $25.00). The same goes for that gorgeous pout. I have everyone addicted to Blistex Moisture Melt SPF 15 ($1.90 per tube) and Blistex Deep Lip Renewal SPF 15 ($2.99) for really chapped lips.

EVOLUTIOMAN Review

Hello lovelies! TGIF … and another product review for the guys! The Makeup Examiner did a review of The Art of Shaving not too long ago, and the gentlemen readers seemed to really appreciate a nod to their grooming needs. So with that in mind, I’ll be bringing reviews to the men folk throughout 2013.

Without further ado, let’s get to the EVOLUTIOMAN products! Obviously, I couldn’t write a review about fabulous men’s grooming products without enlisting my fabulous male housemates. EVOLUTIOMAN sent TME, Wash & Buff ($19), Cleanse & Shave ($20), Moisture Protect SPF 20 ($25), Revitalize Eye Gel ($28) and Conceal & Treat ($21). A few important things to note about EVOLUTIOMAN and their products; all items are packaged in post-consumer recycled materials, cruelty-free, paraben-free and non-GMO.

Each of the EVOLUTIOMAN products were essentially fragrance free, which was the first bonus for my housemates, as one dislikes any men’s fragrance beyond the scent of his deodorant and the other has a specific cologne that he (his girlfriend) likes. Both guys began the regime with Wash & Buff and both reported that it left their faces feeling clean. They moved onto Cleanse & Shave and said that it was decent to give a close shave. They guys are just beginning to understand the importance of moisturizing and protecting their skin so it was fairly easy to have them use Moisture Protect SPF 20 for which they both said was light on their skin.

Moving on to the last part of EVOLUTIOMAN’s revolutionary skincare regime, the guys both liked the cooling effect of Revitalize Eye Gel and since I can’t find it, I’m fairly positive that one of them has it in their manscape bag. The only product from EVOLUTIOMAN that received a lukewarm response was Conceal & Treat. This was surprising to me since my housemates are so over any misconceptions about “girly” type stuff. $10 says that come date night, they’ll be bugging me for the Conceal & Treat! EVOLUTIOMAN products are available at EVOLUTIOMAN and at select retail locations
