L’Oréal Paris Met Gala Get The Look

For 2016, the Met Gala which occurred last night may 2, was centered on the idea of "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology". And as with previous years, the Red Carpet sizzled. Directly from L’Oréal Paris, we have the Red Carpet looks for Brie Larson, Emma Stone, Mackenzie Davis and Karlie Kloss!

 BRIE LARSON (HAIR)

HAIR STYLIST: Mara Roszak, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Hairstylist

INSPIRATION: “Brie wore this modern, cool-girl Proenza Schouler dress, which was glamourous, yet very wearable. We wanted the hair to have a wet look and feel simple and relatively casual and effortless.”

  1. On damp hair, Mara applied L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Extreme Style Gel with a wide-tooth comb. She used enough gel to cover the hair without it feeling overly saturated with product.
  2. Next, she had Brie tilt her head back and gathered hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, applying a bit more gel on the ponytail.
  3. She then used a ghd air hairdryer to blow dry hair until hardened.
  4. Next, she took a little piece of hair and wrapped it around the elastic of the ponytail, fastening with a bobby pin.
  5. Mara used L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Tousle Waves Spray to completely saturate the hair, creating a dampened look.
  6. To finish, she applied L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Extreme Style Gel again to through the ponytail to keep it secure.

EMMA STONE (HAIR)

HAIR STYLIST: Mara Roszak, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Hairstylist

INSPIRATION: “Emma wore this gorgeous white, flowy Prada gown with sharp gun metal details for an ethereal yet edgy look. We wanted the hair to have a strong, powerful presence.”

  1. Mara started by washing Emma’s hair with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Shampoo and conditioning with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Conditioner.
  2. Then, Mara prepped Emma’s hair with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Volume Inject Mousse and parted it off to the side. To disguise Emma’s bangs, she pinned them off to the side.
  3. Next, using a small round brush and ghd air hairdryer she blow dried the hair to create volume.
  4. Then, she pin curled hair and sprayed all over with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold.
  5. After several minutes, Mara took the pins out and used the 1 ¼ inch ghd Curve Soft Curl Iron to go over the curls.
  6. Next, she brushed out the curls to create looser waves, spritzed all over with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Sleek it Stand-Smoother Serum Spray for shine and applied L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold to keep hair in place.

MACKENZIE DAVIS (HAIR)

HAIR STYLIST: Mara Roszak, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Hairstylist

INSPIRATION: “Because Mackenzie wore an intricate, detailed gown, we wanted the hair to have a simple, modern feel.”

  1. Mara prepped Mackenzie’s damp hair with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Curve It Elastic Curl Mousse and used a blow dryer to rough dry
  2. Next, she applied L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray to add texture and volume to the hair.
  3. For a workable hold, Mara applied about a pea-size amount of L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Hyper-Fix Putty.
  4. She then gathered the hair and pulled back into a bun, securing with multiple bobby pins. Mara purposely let some of the bobby pins shows in order to create an effortless style that looked as if Mackenzie could have created it on her own.
  5. Lastly, she pulled some pieces out around the face and applied L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold to lock the hair in place.

KARLIE KLOSS (MAKEUP)

MAKEUP ARTIST: Sir John, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist

INSPIRATION: “Karlie’s dress was the ultimate influence tonight. She wore a very cool design by Brandon Maxwell, so we wanted to keep the look fresh and hip. We went for contrasting textures with her skin and lips and also opted for a very dramatic lash.”

  1. To start, Sir John prepped Karlie’s skin with Youth Code Skin Illuminator All-in-1 Moisturizer SPF 20 to help moisturize and start building the ultimate glowing effect.
  2. Next, he worked on Karlie’s brows, first penciling in with Brow Stylist Definer, then brushing the brows high with the spoolie end. He then finished with a spritz of Elnett Satin Hairspray to lock Karlie’s brows in place.
  3. For the eyes, Sir John used a taupe, matte shadow from Colour Riche La Palette Nude, on the top lid to sculpt the eye. He then lined the upper lash line with Infallible Black Velvet Liner. The underneath of the eye was left clean with no liner or shadow.
  4. For lashes, Sir John first placed multiple individual lashes on the outer corners of Karlie’s eyes. He then took Voluminous Superstar Red Carpet Mascara and applied two coats.
  5. Next, he used Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation all over Karlie’s face, starting the contrasting textures.
  6. To begin to build the glowy finish, he applied True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Golden with a fluffy brush. He placed the product under Karlie’s cheekbones, on her temples, under her neck and on her collarbone.
  7. Sir John then set the liquid bronzer with the NEW! Glam Bronze Bronzer Powder (*Limited edition; launching mid-May).
  8. True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Ice was then applied on the high areas of Karlie’s cheeks and a little bit in the tear duct of her eyes to help brighten without using concealer.
  9. For the lips, Sir John used Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in Rouge Envy. He first applied two coats, then tapped a little translucent powder on top and finished with one last coat.

KARLIE KLOSS (HAIR) - HAIRSTYLIST: Frankie Foye for L’Oréal Paris

INSPIRATION: “The moment I saw the Brandon Maxwell dress Karlie would be wearing I instantly knew her hair needed to be sleek and shiny. I wanted a strong, graphic look with a flawless finish.”

  1. Frankie started by applying L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Air-Whipped Densifying Foam in sections to Karlie’s damp hair, then blow dried with a big, round brush
  2. Once dry, she used L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Air-Blown Texture Mist on the roots for an added natural lift.
  3. She then applied a pea-sized amount of L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Lustrous Oil Serum all over the hair for shine.
  4. Then, she teased the roots, made a razor sharp size part and pulled the hair back into a perfect chignon.
  5. Lastly, Frankie finished the look by spraying L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold on a big blush brush to hold tiny fly-aways and give the look a super sleek finish.

The event was held at The Pierre in New York City. L’Oréal Paris leading ladies Julianne Moore, Karlie Kloss, Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell, Frieda Pinto and Aimee Mullins were just some of the A-list celebrities who came out to celebrate … including Michael Bloomberg who made a surprise appearance.

Over the last decade, the Women of Worth program has recognized over 90 women who find beauty in giving back -- selflessly, tirelessly and passionately volunteering their time and energy. This year’s ten new honorees each received $10,000 towards their respective organizations. Schinnell Leake was unveiled as this year’s National Honoree, selected via public vote, receiving an additional $25,000 towards her cause.

Willow Shields at ‘The Hunger Games Mockingjay 2’ Premiere Get The Look

Willow Shields looked whimsically beautiful as she stepped out for the L.A. premiere of “The Hunger Games Mockingjay: Part 2” on Nov. 16. The 15-year-old actress rocked a Naeem Khan gown paired with perfectly undone waves. And Celebrity Hairstylist Ryan Richman has shared the look with TME!

Get The Look:

Step 1: To start, I prepped Willow’s damp hair with Kérastase Mousse Bouffante to add body throughout the style. Using my blow dryer and my fingers I roughdried the hair focusing at the root.  Tip: for added volume flip upside down or use your fingers to lift the hair 90 degrees from the scalp while blow-drying.

Step 2: when the hair was about 90% dry, I misted Willow’s hair with Kérastase Spray-a-Porter. This is a great spray for extra hold that gives a tousled effect.

Step 3: Next, finished the blow dry with a medium boar bristle round brush being careful not to over smooth the hair and to leave some natural texture.

Step 4: Using a 1" flat iron I enhanced the natural wave of the hair.  At the root of a 1" section of hair I closed the iron softly and slid the iron down the hair while bending it back and forth in opposite directions following the natural S pattern in the hair.  I continued this throughout the entire head and finished each section with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray.

Step 5: To finish the look I applied a small amount of Kérastase Short Mania to my fingers tips and tousled the hair focusing at the root to break up the style.  I created a messy deep side part with my fingers and sprayed the style with Kérastase Powder Bluff for a matte textured finish.

Kérastase products are available online at Kérastase USA and L’Oréal Paris Elnett is available online at L’Oreal Paris!

L’Oreal Sells Em Back To Michelle Phan

Michelle Phan has parted ways with L’Oréal, buying back her own beauty line from the company. Em Cosmetics has been sold to Ipsy – a company co-founded by Phan herself. Phan first partnered with L’Oreal as the first official video makeup artist for Lancôme and launched her cosmetics range in 2013. At the launch, Phan referred to Em Michelle Phan as “a dream come true”.

At its launch, Em was expected to be a huge success, due in large part to Phan’s 8 million YouTube followers. WWD reported that the reason for the sale was because L’Oreal felt the range was too expensive for the star’s young following with an average price of $24 per item.

Last month, it was reported that Ipsy had secured $100m in funding. The company currently offers a beauty subscription services – GlamBags – with 1.5 million members. A representative from Ipsy commented on its purchase of Em Michelle Phan: "Ipsy has a great relationship with both L’Oréal and Michelle. We are happy we can support Michelle’s desire to bring em back to her community and look forward to keeping you updated with brand developments in the future."

SAG Awards Jennifer Aniston and Emma Stone Get the Look

Trophies and accolades were given out on Sunday, Jan. 25 at the star-studded Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) show held at the ShrineAuditorium in Los Angeles. The SAG Awards are also a thrill for any fan … most especially for fans of Red Carpet Glam! Read on for the how-tos of two of our favorite stars from L’Oreal Paris!

Emma Stone (Hair)
Hairstylist: Mara Roszak, L’Oreal Paris Celebrity Stylist
Inspiration: Emma’s striking Dior couture dress had a strong, yet glamorous structure, which inspired her modern, twisted ponytail.

Get The Look Hair How-To:
  1. Start with a shampoo and conditioner designed to help achieve a straight, sleek look like L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight Shampoo and Conditioner.
  2. To prep the hair, I applied L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Blow Dry It Thermal Smoother Cream on damp hair and blew it dry with a round brush.
  3. I touched up with a flatiron, taking random sections to create smooth ends
  4. Before creating the ponytail I sprayed L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It High Lift Creation Spray all over the hair to add a bit of volume texture and hold. It's the perfect product to use as a base before styling into an updo to ensure hold.
  5. To create the twisted ponytail, I first sectioned off the hair in front of the ears on both sides. I gathered the hair in the back into a low ponytail and secured with an elastic. Next I pulled the hair on one side towards the back and pinned over the top of the pony, then did the same on the opposite side bobby pinning the ends into the base of the pony.
  6. For a soft touchable look that holds through the night I sprayed L’Oreal Paris Elnett Strong Hold Hairspray all over.
  7. To finish off the look, I sprayed L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Sleek It Strand Smoother Serum Spray for a touch of shine for the camera.

Manicurist: Tom Bachik, L’Oréal Paris Global Nail Artist
Inspiration: Jennifer’s vintage Galliano gown was Parisian femme fatale meets Old Hollywood defined, so her nails had to reflect that look as well, which is why Tom went with a classic, shiny Bordeaux.

Get The Look Nails How-To:
  1. Tom shaped nails keeping them on the shorter side and natural looking
  2. To complement the glamorous metallic gown and iridescent makeup look, Tom opted for deep Bordeaux gel polish, L’Oréal Paris Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque 1-2-3 in Bold Bordeaux.
  3. As a finishing touch before sending Jennifer off, Tom dropped L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil onto the cuticles for added moisturization.
