Olivia Culpo’s Perfectly Imperfect Waves

Olivia Culpo hit the town with pals Shanina Shaik and Dev Windsor to celebrate the launch of ghd’s new Nocturne Holiday Collection. Her outfit was spot-on, her makeup was on-point, but what had everyone’s head turning was her uber-chic bedhead waves.

ghd ambassador and Celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan gives us the how-to:

Step 1: Prep hair with a volumizing mousse then blow dry with the ghd nocturne air hairdryer ($199) to give the hair volume and a little natural texture.

Step 2: Create a clean middle part then attach clip-in extensions if needed for added length.

Step 3: Section the hair horizontally in 1-inch sections then, taking 1-inch wide pieces, create an s-pattern wave with the ghd nocturne platinum styler ($249), alternating turning the styler upwards and downwards.

Pro-Tip: Brick lay the s-pattern on each piece by alternating the bevels with the iron, but leave the ends straight – this keeps the look modern and gives it more of an undone feel.

Step 4: Spray a little dry shampoo to rough up the texture throughout then run a small amount of pomade through ends. Finish with a light mist hairspray.

Step 5: Give everyone hair envy!

What’s Up At ghd Hair And Bonus GTL For Khloe, Kerry and Olivia

Have you ever wondered how Hollywood’s leading ladies keep their hair healthy and strong on the Red Carpet during Award’s season? All of those “touch-ups” and even mid-show style changes! That is some rough going on gentle locks for sure! Well, apparently the answer to this question is contained within a tube… the secret to long-lasting lovely locks seems to be ghd’s Advanced Split End Therapy. This magic restores hair by nourishing dry damaged ends and replenishing overworked tresses.

Unlike other hair treatments, the Advanced Split End Therapy ($28) features the ghd Thermo-Marine Bonding System, which is activated by the heat of your styler to bind broken hair fibers together to smooth and seal the hair, leaving hair feeling sleeker, smoother, and shinier for up to 10 washes. Fortify hair from styling damage and environmental stress for A-list hair all winter long. Hmmm… sounds amazing right about now. Okay, are you ready for the GTL for Khloe Kardashian, Kerry Washington, and Olivia Culpo?

We are OBSESSED with the half-up braided hairstyle ghd Brand Ambassador Justine Marjan created for Khloe Kardashian.

Step 1:  Prep damp hair with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth serum then blowdry with a smoothing brush and the ghd air hairdryer ($199).

Step 2: Create the partings for 3 braided sections, one on either side of the eyebrow, and one at the center parting.

Step 3: Add styling pomade to each sections, then create a braid to the crown of the head and clip away.

Step 4:  Once every section is braided, add pomade to the sections between the braids then comb into a half up hairstyle and secure with an elastic.

Step 5:  Flat iron the rest of the hair with a ghd platinum styler ($249), then use more serum through the ends.

Justine Marjan was busy creating this season’s hottest hairstyles at the Sundance Film Festival for Kerry Washington and Olivia Culpo. Check out these tips on how Justine created Kerry Washington’s voluminous, textured ponytail and Olivia Culpo’s edgy, dutch braid ponytail.

Kerry Washington’s Textured Ponytail How-To:

Step 1: “I used my ghd platinum styler ($249) to smooth the hair before gathering it into a high ponytail with styling pomade at the roots.”

Step 2: “I curled the pony in tiny sections alternating directions with my ghd curve classic curl iron ($199). Then I sprayed the pony with dry shampoo, lifted it up and backbrushed, then pieced it out with the end of my rat tail comb and sprayed with extreme hold hairspray to finish.”

Olivia Culpo’s Braided Ponytail How-To:

Step 1: “First apply Keratin Smooth serum to damp hair then blow dry smooth with a ghd air hairdryer ($199) and flat brush. Then create a clean middle part, then another part from the arch of the eyebrow to the crown of the head. Clip the rest of the hair away.”

Step 2: “ Next apply smoothing pomade to the roots then create a Dutch Braid on either side of the middle part. When the braid reaches the crown of the head, create a 3-strand braid to the ends and secure with an elastic. Apply more pomade to the roots of the rest of the hair then use a fine toothcomb to gather into a high ponytail.

Step 3: “Lastly, spray a smoothing brush with high impact hairspray then brush the hair into a smooth pony and secure with a hair bungee. Using the ghd curve classic curl iron ($199) to curl through the length of the pony then wrap the base with velvet ribbon to finish.”

Celebrity Hairstylist Owen Gould Shares Olivia Culpo GTL

ghd Celebrity hairstylist Owen Gould spent yesterday, December 7 with Olivia Culpo helping her get ready for her event-filled day! Opting for two very classic hairstyles, Team TME thought that these would be perfect to share as we go into the holiday party and event season.

Olivia Culpo was a very busy lady yesterday and appeared at ICAP Charity Day + the Reebok event with Gigi Hadid looking absolutely gorgeous, as usual, with a simple yet elegant Classic Chignon hairstyle. Since Olivia was headed from a charity event to a sportier party, Celebrity Hairstylist Owen Gould wanted to create a sophisticated hairstyle that would complement any outfit.

How to Recreate Olivia Culpo’s Classic Chignon:

Step 1: To start, I blew out her hair straight with the ghd Air and the Oval Dressing Brush for smoothness.

Step 2: Once her hair was dry, I created a deep side part and straightened her hair in one-inch sections using the ghd Platinum Styler to smooth out her ends.

Step 3: Then, we curled the ends of the hair using the ghd Curve Classic Curl Iron, this ensures that the ends stay smooth and together for an easier chignon.

Step 4: Next I pulled all of the hair in a low ponytail at the nape of the neck and then twisted the remaining hair in a clockwise position and secured the style with bobby pins.

Step 5: Once the hair is tightly secured, I spritzed A little hair spray to smooth the fly-aways and she was ready to go!

Olivia Culpo then appeared on set for a taping of “Beat Bobby Flay” this afternoon sporting a playful, high-textured ponytail. Celebrity Hairstylist Owen Gould wanted to create a fun, youthful hairstyle to complement her outfit.

How to Recreate Olivia Culpo’s Voluminous Ponytail:

Step 1: To start, curled her hair in two-inch sections using the ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand to create texture and volume.

Step 2: Once the texture had been added, I swept the hair into a high pony.

Step 3: After securing the hair, I teased it just to give the pony a little extra volume and finished with a light hold hairspray.

InStyle Awards Makeup Artist of the Year Charlotte Tilbury Shares How-Tos

At the inaugural InStyle Awards, held on Monday, Oct. 26 at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, honored the actors, designers, and artists whose style defines the red carpet and celebrated the behind-the-scenes work that goes into securing a spot on “Hollywood’s 50 Best Dressed” list.

Charlotte Tilbury received the Makeup Artist of the Year Award among the biggest names in Hollywood. Her friend Kim Kardashian West presented her the award, while Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Olivia Culpo were all in attendance to support and celebrate Charlotte’s accomplishments.

This honor is the culmination of a whirlwind year for Charlotte. One that saw her launching her eponymous skincare and makeup line in the US and Canada (which has since become an international phenomenon); create unforgettable looks for the biggest Fashion Weeks shows around the world; and glam up some of the most famous face's in the World for the biggest red carpet events, such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, MET Gala and Cannes. These include Sienna Miller, Blakely Lively and Kate Moss. There was also a little known event called George and Amal’s wedding, for which she did Mrs. Clooney’s makeup. This all between cultivating a cult-like celebrity following that includes Jennifer Aniston, Penelope Cruz, Cara Delevigne, Sofia Vergara, Olivia Palermo, Naomi Campbell, the Kardashian-Jenner ladies, Liberty Ross, Ashley Greene, Shay Mitchell and Rachel Roy (and many more). In a nutshell, 2015 has been full of MAJOR MOMENTS for Charlotte Tilbury.

The secret to Charlotte's famous guests' beauty looks from the InStyle Awards:

Step One: Charlotte created THE BOMBSHELL look, featuring a striking modern matte red lip, flawless, dreamy skin and accentuated eyes.

Step Two: The eyes were gilded with Eyes To Mesmerise in Jean, a gorgeous, gleaming wash of color that makes the eyes looks instantly brighter and more awake. For definition and depth, Charlotte used the Eyes To Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette along the upper lash line, and underneath the eye. Charlotte created a beautiful Feline Flick using the Rock N’ Kohl pen in Barbarella Brown and finished Miranda's eyes with Full Fat Lashes Mascara.

Step Three: For the lips, Charlotte started by lining the outline of lips with the Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Kiss N’ Tell. Next, she applied the Norman Parkinson special edition Matte Revolution in 1975 Red, a mesmerizing, deep, sunset-red hue that works perfectly with Miranda's naturally sun-kissed complexion.  A touch of Charlotte's signature Matte Bombshell Red, Red Carpet Red, completes the look.

Step One: To complement Olivia’s divine, deep crimson, high-necked dress, Charlotte wanted to create THE VINTAGE VAMP, a sexy, sultry seventies-inspired look with a smokey eye.

Step Two: Charlotte started the eye by washing the prime shade across the entire eyelid and then working the enhancing shade back and forth into the outer corners of the eyes. Next, she traced the smoke shade alone the upper lash line and created a Feline Flick using the Rock ‘N’ Kohl in Barbarella Brown along the lash line.

Step Three: The Vintage Vamp is all about a deep crimson lip, so Charlotte created a modern Matte Revolution lip with a twist, instantly making Olivia’s lips look wider, fuller and plumper.  Charlotte traced the lip line with Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Savage Row and filled in lips with Matte Revolution in Glastonberry.

Step One: Charlotte wanted to create a natural, beachy, bronzed, glowing look to complement Alessandra's daring and hypnotizing cutout dress.

Step Two: For perfected, beautiful skin, Charlotte started with her Magic Cream, which instantly drenches the skin with moisture. She applied the Light Wonder Foundation in 7, and retouched any darkness under the eyes with her Retoucher pen in Number 2.

Step Three: THE GOLDEN GODESS look is never complete without some genius contouring. Using the Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette, Charlotte carved some killer cheekbones into Alessandra’s flawless complexion. Drip candlelight along the tops of the cheekbones and follow the hollow. Follow with Beach Sticks in Moon Beach & Las Salinas to the apples of Alessandra’s cheeks to give them a gold-flecked, tawny-rose blush of color.
