5 Weekender Must Haves

Summer 2019 is almost here and we're all bound to get away for at least one weekend right? Well hopefully we'll all find time to escape more than once! As weekend getaways fast approach, we have a few must have products to help you get the most out of you weekender!

Travel Mirror  - HotLife LED Lighted Makeup Mirror is everything a travel mirror should be -- affordable, durable, versatile, compact, and accented with battery-powered lights, which are included. Toss it in your weekend bag and the plastic shell will prevent any unwanted cracks. Need to go right from fixing your messy bun to taming your unruly eyebrows? The double-sided mirror feature — one a polished glass, the other 2x magnification — will help you out. When you accidentally drift off to sleep with your (very dry) contacts still in, the eight LED lights, dimmable by a touchscreen control, will guide your way as you remove them.

Travel Hairdryer - Andis 1875-Watt Fold-N-Go IonicHair Dryer is sooooo perfect for travel! Should we start with its retractable cord and folding handle? Those features make this travel hairdryer perfect for super storage on the go. With ions to reduce frizz and 3 heat/air speeds for ultimate styling and control, you should put this on your must get list before your next get away.

Skincare Travel Kit - Burt's Bees Fabulous Mini'sTravel Set allows you to pamper from head to toe on the go with the set including 6 travel size Burt's Bees favorites: Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser, Intensive Hydration Day Lotion, Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream, Milk & Honey Body Lotion, Coconut Foot Cream and Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream.

Dental Travel Kit - The Reach Travel Kit is perfect to cover your dental needs for the weekend. Featuring a REACH Ultra Clean Toothbrush, an Anti-Cavity Whitening Toothpaste, and toothbrush cap. The Reach Travel kit come with a convenient travel pouch.

The Weekender Bag - You have to have something to put it all in right? We fell in love with Free People Willow Vintage Tote when we traveled to Capri. It offers an unique twist on typical duffels and messengers. The slouchy half-moon shape stands out in the crowd, and wooden top handles add to the vintage aesthetic. And of course, it offers up enough room for all of your stuff!

Whether you're going to the beach or chillin' lakeside, we hope that our suggestions make your travels a little more fun. Oops... we almost forgot that snacks are an important part of the road to wherever you're going.  So, we just discovered Ritual Energy bars and they make the perfect snack/pick-me-up for that Friday evening (after work and stuck in traffic) drive to the beach. Happy Adventures!

Holiday Travel Gear: The 2018 Beauty Must-Haves

Oh, it's on .... the crazy travel of the Holiday Season is here! There's no doubt that we love the holiday season. Maybe it’s because we know that parties are in abundance, or perhaps it’s the thought (and sigh of relief) that soon we'll be spending a week in January with our toes in the sand -- far, far away from the cold! Most likely it’s a lovely combination. However before we get to jet off to parts unknown, Team TME has to share the beauty must-haves for traveling with ease this holiday season.

Traveling is essentially second nature to us, although it hasn’t always been so. When we sat down to really think about traveling during the holidays, it was a chat filled with memories of “OMG” moments, a lot of laughs and the realization that we need our creature comforts! Read on for Team TME’s must-haves that will have you arriving in style and looking beautiful all season long.

Elizabeth Arden SPARKLE ON HOLIDAY COLLECTION ($67), which includes: Superstart Skin Renewal Booster, Pink/Purple Eye Shadow Compact, Glam Eye Shadow Compact, Elizabeth Arden Blush Compact, 2 Full Size Lip Glosses, Full Size Grand Entrance Mascara, Elizabeth Arden Eye Pencil, 4 Elizabeth Arden lipsticks and comes in a Sparkle On Holiday Collection Custom Case.

So, what else will you need? … ECRU New York’s Travel Hair Dryer ($108.75) with patented Japanese ion technology, your hair dries hair from the inside out to infuse it with moisture, restoring luster and reducing frizz and flyaways. This hair dryer offers dual voltage to adjust drying power to meet European and American requirements and is compact. If you want to have pretty holiday hair, we say go with ECRU New York Luxe Treatment Travel & Trial Set ($22), which contains portable sizes of ECRU New York Luxe Treatment Shampoo, Protective Silk Conditioner, and Sunlight Finishing Spray MAX all come packaged in a convenient travel bag, ensuring that your hair will be the ultimate fashion accessory wherever you go … all TSA approved.

You can’t forget skincare… even on the go! Between delivering products with assured efficacy and Golden Door’s philosophies that align with our own, is it any wonder that this spa’s skincare products have made it into the TME Vault? (And Golden Door’s Artisan Foods have made it into our picnic baskets and make a fab hostess/host gift!)  Anyway … since we discovered the Try Me Kit ($38) it has become a staple and contains TSA approved sizes of the Golden Peel-A-Way Masque, Bamboo Face Scrub, and Hydrating Cleaning Milk that are a combination guaranteed to bring life back to tired and dull skin!

You also probably don’t want to forgo shaving … A gadget that we discovered many summers ago is the Venus Snap Razor ($12.99) and we do not go anywhere without it. This mini razor allows for instant smoothness on the go! With five curve-hugging blades and a portable compact, you’ll be ready for anything, anytime, anywhere.

Don’t forget fragrance and if you’re looking for something new, check out TME’s Fragrance Section. On the subject of scent … we’re going where many have gone before … but most feel uncomfortable talking about. While we were swapping “war” stories, the subject of bathroom time came up -- more specifically the potty and the lingering scents left behind. We had a recent experience when attending a get-together at Yvonne’s house when a guest had emerged from the powder room reeking of air freshener. The powder room is not exactly around the corner in Yvonne’s home and all could smell … uh … let’s just say we could smell whatever had occurred in the powder room from three rooms over. What happens in the bathroom needs to stay in the bathroom -- for all parties concerned. Enter The Porcelain Company.

Designed by an organic chemist, Porcelain ($12.95 - Travel Bottle) is formulated to create an odor barrier between you and the toilet water, while actively reacting with and neutralizing the volatile gases in the water. A spritz is all you need. Made in the USA and available in five scents -- Belle, Day in the Country, Game Day, Simpatico and Teal -- don’t leave home without it! Porcelain is also available gifts sets for at home use and currently offering Free Shipping with the code: SCIENCE.

So, we’re just about packed and ready for a long weekend with friends and family. From our family here at TME to yours … xo Happy Thanksgiving!

Tips For Surviving A Long-Haul Flight

Happy first day of Summer 2018! Summer brings about so much fun, like travel. And this season may be your first experience abroad ... like really abroad on a long-haul flight. While jumping on a plane and going wherever the winds may take you sounds amazing (and it is!), it can be a little challenging on the comfort side of life. Sometimes the journey there is absolutely NOT part of the fun!

We’ve traveled all over the world and have had the best and worst experiences. Over the years, we learned how to handle long-haul flight travel and with vacation season upon us, it’s time to share our hard learned tips with TME readers. If you have the luxury of doing so, three to five days prior to embarking on a vacation in a different time zone get your body on schedule with your destination. This is the easiest way to beat jet lag and save yourself from wasting 24-hours or more trying to get your body clock adjusted. Now that we have that covered, what about the flight itself?

For those wishing to sleep:
  • Do not consume alcohol
  • Do not consume caffeine
  • Hydrate with water
  • Eat a light meal before you board
  • Invest in a Mosaic Weighted Blanket and Noise Canceling headphones
  • Choose a window seat
  • Avoid the seats at the very front and very back of the plane
  • If you can swing it, invest in a premium ticket

For those looking to pass the time:
  • Long flights are a fabulous time to do some spa treatments like a hydrating face and hand mask, as air travel is notoriously dehydrating
  • A 12-hour flight is the perfect time to catch up on thank you notes and other handwritten correspondence
  • If you’re traveling to a new destination, brush up on a few local phrases -- such as proper greetings
  • Even if you have no desire to sleep, bring a set of Noise Canceling headphones … trust us on this one.

Summer Travel: The Beauty Essentials

From the perspective of a reformed “over-packer,” whom we aren’t going to name, Team TME can tell you that vacation beauty doesn’t require a quarter of the beauty items that you think it does. That “over-packer” -- she used to travel with a suitcase just for her shoes, a carry-on filled with “essential beauty items,” and wear stilettos because who wants to travel comfortably when you can look “chic” instead? Bahahahaha. So, how did Miss “Over-Packer” become a reformed intelligent traveler? A sprint from one end of O’Hare to the other to catch a connecting flight… in those stilettos… plus lost luggage that contained even more “beauty essentials” and cured for life she was!

Team TME has become a group of seasoned travelers, and yes we’re apt to repack your luggage if you’re traveling with us. Whether it’s a weekend at the beach or the vacation you’ve been planning all year, we’re sharing our knowledge for traveling comfortably and arriving in style. To start, an amazing vacation or weekend get-away begins before you leave. Nothing is worse then not having the right products to keep you looking gorgeous and feeling great while you’re trying to relax, so a toiletry kit that is well stocked is essential!

Case It: Even the seasoned traveler needs a little help with organizing from time to time. The JOY Big Better Beauty Case ($30) ticks off all the boxes. The Case can be unrolled flat to view all of your beauty items and hangs for super easy use. And we would never recommend that you go anywhere without your sunscreen -- COOLA Travel Size Sport SPF 50 Guava Mango Sunscreen Spray ($20).

While You’re Traveling: Our number #1 beauty travel tip is to keep your skin hydrated while you travel and you actually can’t do that with a ton of makeup on your face. So opt for a natural look, especially during a flight. A flight is a great time to catch up on a little skin care and do a mini facial -- even if you travel by car you can still take this time to treat yourself. We recommend a hydrating layer of ELEMIS Superfood Facial Oil ($55) during your journey and DR. JART+ Dermaclear Micro Makeup Remover Pads ($20) right before you get to your destination. Do not forget your lips! Armani ECSTASY BALM in Soft Nude ($34) is the perfect mix of lip hydration with a touch of color.

Skin Savers: Travel really can stress out your skin and nothing is worse then arriving at your destination looking world-weary. We discovered the ultimate multiuse balm -- The Beauty Chef Beauty Fix Balm ($30)! Treat your lips, cuticles, elbows… anywhere your skin needs a little love, to a few dabs of this bit of deliciousness. Your skin will thank you with a gorgeous glow upon arrival.

Along with a good multiuse balm, facial mist is a must! We’ve told you about Golden Door’s Yuzu products and we’re sharing another that has entered The TME Beauty Vault. Golden Door Yuzu Face & Body Mist ($34)! A few spritzes of this hydrating face & body mist, and you will be renewed. The light citrus scent is summer in a bottle and is the perfect quick boost. It feels like a cool drink of water for your skin, and the formula is perfect for combating dehydration. Bonus: You don’t have to be traveling to enjoy this skin treat!

Jazz Hands: We’ve seen a whole lotta really scary places in our travels lately so don’t even think about traveling without bringing this one essential item! Hand Sanitizer! Pass on the skin-stripping, chemical-laden versions for one balanced with nourishing ingredients like essential oils. We like Baby Bum Hand Sanitizer Spray ($4) because it’s infused with skin-loving ingredients. After you sanitize, moisturize! Over the brutal winter we discover two hand creams that we cannot live without and they’re seeing us through travel time quite nicely. L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream ($29) or Sol deJaneiro Brazilian Touch Hand Cream ($20) are beauty must-haves and you won’t want to leave home without them.

Multitasking Makeup: No one wants to go on vacation without the makeup that they need to stun all, but who wants to pack everything on their vanity? We discovered a few perfect multitaskers that will be all that you’ll need to look amazing. Wander Beauty On-The-Glow Blush and Illuminator ($42) for the perfect all over glow. Gabriel Cosmetics Multi Pot ($20) is perfect for eyes and lips. jane iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit ($33) has absolutely everything that you’ll need to glam it up.

Skincare-On-the-Go: Although we know that it can be tempting, we wouldn’t neglect our skin, even on vacation. Lake, pool, or beach requires SPF and we absolutely love NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($43 - available in 11 shades and travel size) with its oil-free formula that provides buildable coverage. To cleanse your face, we love L’Occitane’s Aqua Réotier Water Gel Cleanser ($24) and a surprisingly awesome moisturizer is Olay Luminous Whip ($29).

Hair Care: RAHUA Voluminous Shampoo ($34) and RAHUA Voluminous Conditioner ($36) may seem a little pricey, but trust us… they are worth every penny. These formulas are organic, safe for color –treated hair, do not include the yucky stuff and smell like a bit of heaven! Do you want to wash your hair every day on vacation? We don't either. At night, spray OGX Extra Strength Refresh & Restore + Coconut Miracle Oil Dry Shampoo ($8) under layers at roots and brush through for lovely locks in the a.m.

Hair Stylers & Such: What would vacation be without an easy hairstyle and the proper tools? We love Revlon Soft Ponytailers ($5) that are available in an array of colors and are perfect for the beach and beyond. Of course there will be times when you want to coif that do and who’s dragging a full-sized dryer on vacation? Revlon Perfect Heat Fast Dry Travel Styler ($18) does the full-on job at a price point that can’t be beaten.  Babyliss Nano Titanium Mini Travel Straightener ($38) - The 6-inch mini straightening iron has all the benefits of titanium and ceramic plates and in a convenient, compact size. Plus, offers dual voltage for worldwide use.

Body Care: This is little item that we discovered a while ago and had to share with our readers. Spongellé Spongetté Coconut Verbena ($9) is a spongy buffer that’s infused with Coconut Verbena fragranced body wash, which envelops the body in a Coconut Water, Lemon Verbena and Crisp Bamboo aroma. This baby is good for at least 14 showers and it’s one less bottle in your bag! If you skin needs a little more love than the Spongellé Spongetté, we recommend The Ritual of Ayurveda Dry Oil ($29). Dry oil has kind of become a summertime staple, as it is fast absorbing, super-hydrating, and leaves zero residue, plus this gorgeous one by Rituals is great for your hair too!

Oral Care: It doesn’t matter how lovely your locks are or how glowy your skin is if you breath stinks! Violife Slim Sonic Travel Toothbrush & Case ($25) is large enough to fit your toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash like Marvis Jasmin Mint Travel Toothpaste ($6), DenTek Floss Picks + Case for On-the-Go ($2.99), and TheraNeem Mouthwash Travel Size by Organix South ($3.19).

Fragrance: You could play it safe and go with your “regular” perfume or walk on the wild side with a new to you fragrance like Armani Sì Passione Rollerball ($28). Along the lines of “fragrance,” Team TME is again going were going where many have gone before … but most feel uncomfortable talking about. Just as we’d recommended for “HolidayTravel” we are telling you that what happens in the bathroom needs to stay in the bathroom -- for all parties concerned. Enter The Porcelain Company, which offers travel sized “potty odor” neutralizing sprays ($12).

Wherever you travel this summer, we hope that it is memorable and fun!
Happy Summer 2018!  xo ~Team TME
