Bridal Fashion Week BERTA and Bare Alchemy GTL

Glowing, Healthy and Perfect … that explains the look at the BERTA Bridal Fashion Show. As seen on the runway, October 5, at the Berta Spring 2018 Bridal Fashion Week show. The secret to the look is Baré Alchemy. It is the perfect primer, moisturizer and serum to give you a beautiful bridal glow -- AND the official skincare primer for the show.

The Baré Alchemy brand is new to the USA from Australia and is quickly becoming a smash hit to those in the know. Baré Alchemy is a water-based serum that uses the extract of the rare Kakadu Plum, which boasts the highest concentration of any fruit of the planet, providing that natural brightness that every bride craves!

How to get that “Glowing” look? It’s very simple -- Use Baré Alchemy sparingly, and apply to clean skin prior to makeup use. With targeted, concentrated ingredients based in water, and lightweight in formula, the Baré Alchemy bespoke serums provide deep hydration by transporting nutrient molecules directly to the cells.

The Story of Baré Alchemy: Named after Jeanne Baré, a revolutionary female botanist who broke all the rules and navigated the male-dominated world of botany, the brand originated in the Australian Bush full of treasure troves of rare botanicals such as the Kakadu Plum, the natural source of the highest vitamin C on the planet. That, along with age-old secrets of the natives, created the basis for these bespoke, natural serums. Baré Alchemy offers a unique approach to skincare with four serums, specifically engineered to work for distinct skin types at different times of the year - as our skins change with the season. Baré Alchemy is a range of bespoke natural serums from Australia. A team of naturopaths, sociologists, chemists, designers, engineers and even a tribal elder have come together to create something integral to the health of the modern woman.

  • Ambrosia Protect Serum (for normal skin): Containing Kakadu Plum and Caviar Lime Pearl, the Protect Serum boosts hydration at the cellular level. Rich in AHAs, this serum provides a gentle exfoliation, and stimulates the skin to reduce the appearance of aging and improve luminosity.
  • Ambrosia Soothe Serum (for dry/sensitive skin): Containing Kakadu Plum, Argan Oil and Tasman Pepper Berry Extract, the Sooth Serum restores hydration to the skin’s layers, boosts collagen synthesis and structural cellular integrity of dry, damaged, and sensitive skin.
  • Ambrosia Cleanse Serum (for oily skin): Containing Kakadu Plum, Manuka Oil and Tea Tree Leaf Oil, the Cleanse Serum boosts hydration with a blend of vitamins, minerals and hyaluronic acid. Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory ingredients help minimize acne, blackheads and whiteheads.
  • Ambrosia Balance Serum (for combinations skin): Containing Kakadu Plum and Lemon Balm, this luxurious, quickly absorbed serum restores natural balancing factors of your skin to capture and retain moisture where dry and cleanse and open pores where oily.

Naeem Khan and Reem Acra Bridal Fashion Week Beauty

Davines capped off Spring/Summer Bridal Fashion Week 2016 on Friday, April 17 with two stunning shows -- Naeem Khan and Reem Acra. From regal to ethereal the looks were breathtaking. The Makeup Examiner received the exclusive “how-tos” from Joseph DiMaggio for Davines for Team TME readers. Oh, and you don’t have to wait until 2016 to coif the styles!

Show: Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2016 Bridal Fashion Week

Inspiration: “There is nothing as inspiring as the work of Naeem Khan, especially in his bridal collections. Having had the chance to work with him at F/W 2015 Fashion Week, I was thrilled to create the hair look for Naeem’s modern, yet classic bride. I complemented his idyllic beadwork with a demure roped chignon - reminiscent of a flower in bloom. The natural backswept style also provides the perfect frame for the seashell crowns seen throughout the show.”  Lead Stylist, Joseph DiMaggio, Master Session Ambassador for Davines

Naeem Khan Hair Step-by-Step:

Step 1: Prep hair by applying a generous amount of Davines More Inside This is A Volume Boosting Mousse onto fingertips. Distribute thoroughly from roots to ends, keeping hair smooth and in place.

Step 2:  Section hair evenly from ear to ear, creating front and back sections.

Step 3: Using a blow dryer and large round brush, work to create subtle volume and bounce at the crown and top of the head by blowing hair up and away from the face.

Step 4: *Once dry, use fingers to sweep the hair into a layered ponytail, securing with an elastic tie directly under the occipital bone. Tightly twist into a low bun at the nape of the neck, fasten with pins. Use weft (virtually undetectable strip) extensions, to create two tight twists. Twist these two extension wefts together, creating a “rope braid.” Wrap rope braid around bun to create an elegant flowerlike shape and pin securely. Using fingertips, customize the braid shape by applying Davines More Inside This Is A Texturizing Dust to hands and massaging for additional structural support and texture expansion.

Step 5: Finish by applying Davines More Inside This Is A Medium Hold Hair Spray for all over for shine and hold.

*At-home: Following step 4, separate ponytail into two smaller sections and tightly twist each, securing with two small elastics. Wrap into a rope braid and fasten to head with bobby pins in the same fashion.

Styling Products Used: Davines More Inside This Is A Volume Boosting Mousse ($34), Davines More Inside This Is A Medium Hold Hairspray ($28), Davines More Inside This Is A Texturizing Dust ($28)

Show: Reem Acra Spring/Summer 2016 Bridal Fashion Week

Inspiration: “Reem Acra’s intricate bead work and sexy silhouettes are true works of art. Rather than accessorizing with jewelry, she wanted all attention centered around the hair - creating an unexpected piece of bridal ‘jewelry.’ With that, I was able to push my own limits and dream up an avant-garde bridal style. Using long extensions, I crafted a strong structured braid and romanticized it with diamond and pearl accessories of Ms. Acra’s creation.” ~ Lead Stylist, Joseph DiMaggio, Master Session Ambassador for Davines

Reem Acra Hair Step-by-Step:

Step 1:  Prep hair by spraying a generous amount of Davines Essential VOLU Mist at the root. Follow up by brushing Davines More Inside This Is A Volume Boosting Mousse from root to tip to keep it smooth and in place.

Step 2:  Section hair evenly from ear to ear, creating front and back sections.
Sweep hair back in the back section into a ponytail at the occipital bone, secure with an elastic cord. Create a strong center part in the front section and allow to hang loose temporarily.

Step 3:  *Apply More Inside This Is A Volume Boosting Mousse throughout three wefts of extensions. Brush through the length before creating a 12” braided ponytail that falls down the entirety of the back. Attach this extension to the actual ponytail using an elastic cord. Pro Tip: If the natural hair is long, create a braid below where the ponytail is fastened at the occipital bone and fasten to the underside of the extensions using clear elastics. For short hair, wrap hair tightly around the elastic and extension.

Step 4: Brush the front section of the hair back towards the ponytail, smoothing as you go with Davines More Inside This Is A Medium Hair Spray.

Step 5: Lace the hair from the front sections underneath the ponytail (including extensions) and continue to wrap around the base creating a thick band over where the extensions meet the base of the head and ponytail. Use pins to secure.

Step 6:  Using a variety of diamonds, pearls and golden wraps, pin and tie throughout the length of the braided ponytail.

Step 7:  Apply iron on stars sporadically around the head.

Step 8: Adhere carefully using a hot curling iron.

Step 9: Control wisps and secure the look by applying Davines More Inside This Is A Strong Hair Spray for all over for shine and hold.

*At-home: Following step 3, braid your own hair and tie off with an elastic at the bottom of your natural length. Continue on with steps 7, 8 and 9.

Styling Products Used: Davines Essential VOLU Mist ($34), Davines More Inside This Is A Volume Boosting Mousse ($26), Davines More Inside This Is A Medium Hair Spray ($29), Davines More Inside This Is A Strong Hair Spray ($29)

Davines products are available online at Davines and select salons

Wedding Hairstyles Straight From The Runway and Redken Global Creative Director Guido

Wedding season is upon us, and whether you’re the bride-to-be, a bridesmaid or a guest, your look isn’t complete without the perfect hairstyle! From elegant updos to windswept styles, Redken Global Creative Director Guido shares his looks straight from the runways of Fall/Winter 2015 Fashion Week that you can recreate for the big day! Check out the looks and how-tos from Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Valentino.

The Elegant Updo - This Oscar de la Renta style is very elegant and classic – very uptown chic, but there’s a sense of ease to it. I prepped the hair first with Redken’s Stay High 18 high-hold gel to mousse. The key here is to secure the French twist at the back of the neck, making sure it’s flat and tight against the head, which creates a super beautiful profile.

A Charming Chignon - Guido achieved this feminine, beautiful hairstyle at Dolce & Gabbana using Redken’s Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray, which gave that soft, airy texture. But, the real star of the look is the jewelry in the hair. Placing various broaches, pearls and diamonds throughout the hair instantly add charm.

Naturally Chic - Guido created this very natural, rich look at Ralph Lauren by washing the hair with Redken’s Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner and letting it air dry so it has that richness. Then, he used the curling iron to put a little bit of bend in the hair and sprayed Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray all over add texture. It has ease, richness and shine with just enough body to get that feeling of luxury.

Boho Braids - This look from Valentino is classic, feminine and romantic – perfect for weddings. Guido took two small pieces of hair from underneath the head on each side of the face and pulled them back into two little braids using Redken’s Braid Aid 03 braid defining lotion to add grip and texture, and then pulled out one strand over the face to add something a little more interesting to the eye.

Authentic Redken products can be found online at Redken and select salon locations.

Bridal Tips - Matching Your Hairstyle to Your Wedding Dress and More

If we're honest, from the moment "The Big Question" is asked we begin to plan our wedding. Some of us start planning long before … but regardless of when you begin to plan out your special day, you want everything to be perfect and uniquely yours. From selecting the perfect coif to match your dream dress and from pre-wedding day beauty prep to finding the ideal wedding party gift, this writer has curated some tips to help you keep your day relaxed, magical and special.

Now that you've found the perfect dress, you've got to figure out the perfect coif. Turning to Marlene Montanez of Glitz & Grammar, Marlene offers her expertise for hairstyles that will really show off that gorgeous gown. "When I started dress shopping for my wedding, one question that came up again and again as I tried on dresses was, 'How will you be styling your hair?'" shares Marlene. "To be honest, the question always caught me off guard because I knew there was only one answer … It depends on the dress!"

Marlene continues with some rather logical advice. "Your entire wedding look, including your jewelry, veil and wedding hairstyle, should absolutely match with the wedding dress you pick!" If you're freaked out, don't be, because Marlene and Latest-Hairstyles have shared some amazing tips for coordinating your hairstyle to your wedding dress with ease.
  • Backless Dress - Backless wedding dresses are very on trend. And opting to go this route, you'll likely want to show off that sexy back! Consider an updo for your wedding day hairstyle, or an ultra-glamorous low side pony with curls, to give your back the spotlight.
  • One-Shoulder Gown - A one-shoulder gown is great for showing off fabulous arms and a little skin, so don't have your hair covering that up! A half-up half-down wedding hairstyle is a great way to balance off this asymmetrical look.
  • Strapless/Sweetheart Dress - Strapless and sweetheart-neck dresses are still some of the most popular wedding dress styles. The good news is, they not only flatter just about every figure, they work with just about any hairstyle, too! If you are having a [religious] ceremony or concerned about showing too much skin, consider a long hairstyle instead of a half-up or formal updo.
  • Casual/Beachy Dresses - If you are having a beach wedding or a more casual affair, embrace the relaxed vibe with a non-fussy look. Long hair styled in beachy waves or even loose braids and half-up half-down looks are perfect for beach weddings.

Now that you have your hairstyle figured out, what about pre-day skin prep? Or gifts for the wedding party? Or what to do if one of the million possible mishaps occurs? Well, this writer can't give the answers to everything, but she can certainly pass along a little advice.

Obviously you'll want to put your best face forward; so pre-day skincare is a must. Merlot Skin Care, featured on The TODAY show with Kathie Lee and Hoda, is a family-owned and operated brand with its products made in the USA. That aside, the entire Merlot Skin Care line is cruelty-free and incorporates the healing benefits of natural red grape seed antioxidants, which are gentle and effective. Regardless of what skincare line your choose, you need to begin a solid skincare regimen a least two-weeks before your big day.

Next, you can't forget amazing gifts for your wedding party. Atelier Cologne offers gorgeous Coffret Voyage gifts sets that are perfect for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Atelier Cologne's latest offering is a unisex fragrance, Grand Néroli Cologne Absolue. The Coffret Voyage gift set ($85) includes a 30 ml Cologne Absolue and its own handcrafted leather travel case, a soap and a selection of 4 postcards samples in a Venetian blue gift box. If you're looking to make your wedding really unique, match Cologne Absolue with a personalized leather travel case and use them as place cards for your wedding guests!

Lastly, you'll want a back up for all the things that may go awry (Maid of Honor, This one's for you!). From Pinch Provisions, which actually has an entire page dedicated to "wedding emergency" kits, The Bridetastic ($75) Kit is the McLaren (sans the price tag) of emergency kits. Boasting 101 wedding day essentials, The Bridetastic Kit has four removable compartments -- beauty, fashion, personal care, and bridal -- that are neatly organized and contain absolutely every item one can think of to solve the worst wedding day emergency.

Hopefully, we've offered you some great ideas to make your wedding day as beautiful as your love. The companies referenced within are simply a location point and while each gifting suggestion is perfect, in and off itself, it isn't necessary to go over your wedding budget in order for your wedding to be special. After all is said and done, let your wedding be about you and your betrothed!
